The Nevada Control Board on Wednesday recommended approval of two new licenses for the fastest-growing sportsbook in the state, Boomer’s, and also approved one-day licenses to allow the Moulin Rouge to retain its gaming license.
Board members recommended licenses for Boomer’s at The Pass on Water Street in Henderson and at Sierra Sid’s in Sparks.
Joe Asher, chief executive of Boomer’s, said he has six partnerships with resorts in the pipeline and if the latest licenses are approved by the Gaming Commission later this month, they will be the 11th and 12th books under the Boomer’s banner.
Asher said he hopes to have 18 partnerships in place by the start of the next football season.
In a no-discussion consent, the Board of Control also recommended approval of a one-day gaming license to preserve licenses for the Moulin Rouge.
United Coin Machine, doing business as Century Gaming Technologies, was recommended for slot machine licensing only at the Moulin Rouge at 840 W. Bonanza Road.
Temporary casino setups with slot machines inside trailers are a common way to maintain a gaming license in the state. Nevada law requires unlimited gambling to operate on the site at least one day every two years to maintain its grandfathered gaming license.
