There’s a certain type of band already arriving that sound like they’re caught between intimate late-night rooms and the kind of stages built for thousands singing every word to them. years in between fit neatly into that space—emotionally direct, arena-sized in ambition, but still rooted in the messy reality that shaped them.
Fyrspelet – lead singer and songwriter Davidbassist Maddiedrummer Bellaand guitarist Empty – came together as many modern bands do: through overlapping circles of gigs, midnight studio sessions and the tacit understanding that they were all looking for something bigger than the projects they left behind. Raised in Newcastle, David writes with the kind of sharp-eyed honesty that has long defined the North East’s best storytellers. Their music leans equally confidently into polished melodic instincts The Jonas Brothers as does the emotional widescreen release of Coldplay. In just one year, the band has developed an identity that feels unusually secure for a debutant act.
