The Strip’s giant guitar is almost completely drummed.
With 36 of its planned 42 floors now poured, Guitar Hotel Las Vegas is steadily approaching structural completion and making progress toward its planned late 2027 opening.
The guitar-shaped tower will ultimately rise about 660 feet, with the bottom 100 feet containing the resort’s first five floors and the remaining 560 feet dedicated to its 675 hotel rooms and suites. Nearly two dozen of these upper floors have already been fitted with two shades of blue glass that will eventually cover the entire exterior.
The work is part of Hard Rock International’s complete transformation of the site into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. The redevelopment project includes a complete scrapping of the existing three-tower hotel and the construction of the massive guitar-shaped tower that now towers over The Strip.
The building that once served as The Mirage will also get a new exterior as part of its top-to-bottom renovation. Workers are installing a single shade of blue glass designed to match the guitar tower, creating a unified aesthetic across the redesigned resort. The Tri Tower has been completely gutted, and nearly every aspect of its interior layout and design will change when the property reopens, including larger standard rooms and a significantly expanded casino floor.
When complete, the complex will have nearly 3,600 hotel rooms, roughly 175,000 square feet of gaming space, two spas, multiple pools, live entertainment venues and dozens of restaurants, lounges and shops.
South Florida-based Hard Rock International bought The Mirage in 2022 for $1.075 billion from MGM Resorts International.
The project moved quickly after the closure of The Mirage on July 17, 2024, with demolition and site preparation immediately following.
Hard Rock plans to open the new Las Vegas resort in the fourth quarter of 2027.
