Miami Open 2026 Day 6 Summary - The Player Lounge

Day 6 of the 2026 Miami Open saw the fourth-round seedings decided as Jannik Sinner (2) continued his ruthless form, dismantling Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-4 in just 71 minutes while extending his record winning streak to 26.

Frances Tiafoe saved two match points in an epic 7-6(11) decider to beat defending champion Jakub Mensik (12) in almost three hours.

Elsewhere, Terence Atmane claimed another top 10 scalp by defeating seventh seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, while Francisco Cerundolo stunned Daniil Medvedev (9) with a bagel in the first set before edging out a tense 7-5.

Alexander Zverev (3) also advanced after a tough battle with Marin Cilic. With Carlos Alcaraz already out, the tournament looks almost certain as Sinner’s title. Full recap and analysis of all the Day 6 action below!

Sinner cruised in 1 hour and 11 minutes, dropping just five points on serve and firing 23 winners. He extended his unbeaten run against left-handers to 21 matches and has now won his 26th straight set (surpassing Novak Djokovic’s previous mark of 24). He looks good to do the Sunshine Double as there is little resistance left. Next: vs. Alex Michelsen.

Frances Tiafoe (19) def. Jakub Mensik (12) 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-6(11)

A battle that lasted nearly three hours as Tiafoe saved two match points in the deciding tiebreak (after squandering several of his own) and converted on his seventh opportunity to win 13-11 in the tiebreak. The American celebrated by ripping off his shirt in front of a raucous home crowd. This was his 250th career tour-level win (making him only the second active American, along with Taylor Fritz, to reach that milestone).

Mensik, the defending Miami champion who beat Djokovic in last year’s final, is out early and consequently slipping down the rankings.

Terence Atmane def. Felix Auger-Aliassime (7) 6-3, 1-6, 6-3

The Frenchman claimed his third career top 10 win after defeating Fritz and Rune in Cincinnati last year, recovering from a second set down to knock out the Canadian seed in 1 hour 53 minutes. Atmane’s aggressive play proved too much in the decider.

Francisco Cerundolo (18) def. Daniel Medvedev (9) 6-0, 4-6, 7-5

Cerundolo handed Medvedev (fresh off ending Alcaraz’s 16-0 start in Indian Wells) just his second career 6-0 set loss in the opener, then held firm in a tense decider (breaking when Medvedev served for 5-6 and winning when the Russian double-faulted on match point).

Cerundolo always plays well in Miami, so it came as no real surprise to see him progress. It wasn’t a particularly good quality match from either player, but Cerundolo’s forehand always seems to deliver in Miami.

Alexander Zverev (3) def. Marin Cilic 6-2, 5-7, 6-4

Zverev looked in control early on but had to fight back after dropping the second set to the veteran Croatian (who had upset Brandon Nakashima earlier). He broke early in the decider and steadied to advance, but I don’t see him as a title threat here in these types of conditions.
