LISA is officially entering a new chapter, and it looks charming, romantic and unmistakably cinematic. The BLACKPINK-famous global superstar will headline a new Notting Hill–inspired romantic comedy feature for Netflixmarking her first leading role in the genre. The film comes from acclaimed author Katie Silbermanknown for Netflix Set it up and Olivia Wilde’s Book smartand reunites LISA with The white lotus executive producer David Bernardwho will produce through his Middle Child Productions banner.
While Netflix has kept the official log line tightly under wraps, sources say the project took shape on set The White Lotus Season 3. Bernad and LISA are said to bond over their shared love of Richard Curtis’ 1999 rom-com classic Notting Hillthe main role Hugh Grant and Julia Robertswhich famously followed a world-famous actress who fell for an ordinary bookstore owner. The shared affection eventually developed into a full-fledged feature, with Silberman coming on board shortly after to write the script.
Given the inspiration, expectations naturally lean towards LISA portraying the superstar half of a modern celebrity-meets-civilian love story. Whether the film sticks close to the original dynamic or turns the fantasy on its head remains to be seen – but either way, it places LISA squarely at the center of a globally appealing rom-com revival.
The as-yet-untitled project continues LISA’s expanding relationship with Netflix. She recently made her acting debut as Mook in The White Lotus Season 3and is praised for his natural screen presence. She also participates FABRICan action thriller set in Netflix and AGBO’s Extraction universe, opposite Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) and directed by Lee Sang-young.
Talking to Netflix about FABRICLISA shared,
“I am so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an incredible cast. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first film role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
Beyond acting, LISA remains a dominant cultural force. She rose to fame as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, and launched her solo career with LALISA in 2021. Her debut studio album “Alter Ego” debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. She also made her Coachella debut last year and continues to serve as a global ambassador for several brands, including Louis Vuitton, Bulgari and Nike.
With a rom-com on the horizon and an action series already in the works, LISA’s acting is no longer a side quest—it’s the main story.
