Shanghai Masters 2025 Day Two Recap

Day two of 2025 Shanghai Masters wrapped up most of the first round and leaves only one match from the round 128 which will still be ready: American teen teacher Tien takes on Miomir Kecmanovic on Wednesday.

When it closes the opening step, the tournament switches off when the seeded players join in the battle.

With names like Djokovic, Sinner, Rune and Shelton get into the draw tomorrow, interest rises rapidly and the early surprises from day one and two will be tested against some of the world’s best.

On Tuesday, there was little interest in the relaxed fans with Arthur Cazaux who edged Pedro Martinez in three sets, Matteo Arnaldi came through against the qualifying Rei Sakamoto, and Juncheng Shang made a big victory over Aleksandar Kovacevic.

Benjamin Bonzi upset Reilly Opelka in straight sets, while Jenson Brooksby continued to roll with a convincing victory over James Trotter. China’s Yunchaokete Bu closed the night with a late three victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

Jenson Brooksby continued his resuscitation and cruised past James Trotter to reach round 2. The 24-year-old, who is not ranked in early 2025, Rode Momen plays relentlessly from the baseline, and he is very tricky to beat.

Benjamin Bonzi Def. Reilly Opelka (7-6 (2), 6-4)

France’s Benjamin Bonzi upset the great serving American Reilly Opelka at Stadium Court. Bonzi neutralized Opelka’s high serving by winning 56% of other service points, a prominent state that flipped the script on American’s usual dominance.
