Day two of 2025 Shanghai Masters wrapped up most of the first round and leaves only one match from the round 128 which will still be ready: American teen teacher Tien takes on Miomir Kecmanovic on Wednesday.
When it closes the opening step, the tournament switches off when the seeded players join in the battle.
With names like Djokovic, Sinner, Rune and Shelton get into the draw tomorrow, interest rises rapidly and the early surprises from day one and two will be tested against some of the world’s best.
On Tuesday, there was little interest in the relaxed fans with Arthur Cazaux who edged Pedro Martinez in three sets, Matteo Arnaldi came through against the qualifying Rei Sakamoto, and Juncheng Shang made a big victory over Aleksandar Kovacevic.
Benjamin Bonzi upset Reilly Opelka in straight sets, while Jenson Brooksby continued to roll with a convincing victory over James Trotter. China’s Yunchaokete Bu closed the night with a late three victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

Key matches

Juncheng Shang Def. Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 3-6, 6-3)
The Chinese Joke sign Juncheng Shang sought a hard -fighting victory over Aleksandar Kovacevic. The 20-year-old left, on the side of a foot injury from January to August, beat 32 winners in 1 hour and 57 minutes, and he has previously at Hemmamarken, after winning Chengdu last season. Can he compensate for a disappointing start for the Chinese contingent, with Zhang, WU and Zhou out in round 1?
Jenson Brooksby Def. James Trotter (7-6 (2), 6-1)
Jenson Brooksby continued his resuscitation and cruised past James Trotter to reach round 2. The 24-year-old, who is not ranked in early 2025, Rode Momen plays relentlessly from the baseline, and he is very tricky to beat.
Benjamin Bonzi Def. Reilly Opelka (7-6 (2), 6-4)
France’s Benjamin Bonzi upset the great serving American Reilly Opelka at Stadium Court. Bonzi neutralized Opelka’s high serving by winning 56% of other service points, a prominent state that flipped the script on American’s usual dominance.
You defend though. John would 6-3 6-7 (5) 6-3
Yunchaokete bu secured a hard -fighting victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo in an almost three hour battle and ended just before midnight.
BU took advantage of the electric home crowd to cope with the 1000 victory of his fourth ATP-Masters in the season, and his clutch performance on breaking points turned out to be crucial, as he converted important opportunities at the same time as all 9 breaking point chances.
