Wynn Resorts Ltd. Bags Plan for New York City Casino License | Inside Gaming | Business

A second Las Vegas-based company bid on a bid for one of three down-state casino licenses in New York.

Wynn Resorts Ltd. On Monday, it announced that it withdraws from its proposal for Hudson Yards.

With last month’s decision by Las Vegas Sands Corp. Finishing its bid for a casino at the former Nassau Coliseum website on Long Island, there is now a Las Vegas company in driving for a New York license: MGM Resorts International, with its Empire City Casino proposal.

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to submit an application for a gaming license in New York City,” Wynn’s surprising Monday message said.

“The latest rezoming process has made it clear to us that there are uses for our capital that are more accurate for our shareholders, such as investments in our existing and upcoming development and share hazards, than investing in an area where we or any casino operator will meet years of persistent opposition despite our willingness to employees 5,000 News.”

Wynn’s development partner, New York City-based related companies, plans to continue to develop the site with 4,000 homes.

It was the third withdrawal in six weeks and the second involving a Las Vegas Casino operator.

In April, Las Vegas Sands announced that it withdrew after expressing concern about marketing for a brick-and-murbuse when the state includes online licenses.

Earlier in April, Saks Fifth Avenue announced that it had canceled a plan to build a casino on the upper floor of its flagship Manhattan store.

MGM’s Empire City Casino has always been regarded as a front runner in the three downstate casino licenses bid because it would be located on Yonkers Raceway, where the company already maintains slot machines.

Four other companies with Las Vegas bands are also on their way for New York licenses.

Caesars Palace Times Square has been suggested by Reno-based Caesars Entertainment, which has nine strip properties, including its flagship Caesars Palace.

Resorts World New York City is also located on a horse track, Aqueduct Racetrack on Jamaica at Queens. It is run by the Malaysia-based Genting Group, which also runs Resorts World Las Vegas. Plans are underway to close the track and instead expand nearby Belmont Park.

The proposal for Bally’s Bronx in Ferry Point Park would be run by Rhode Island-based Bally’s Corp., who plans to build a new resort next to Athletics’ Baseball Stadium at the former site for Tropicana at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.

Florida’s Seminole Indian Tribe, which develops the Mirage website to Hard Rock Las Vegas on the strip, is a partner for a New York casino in Metropolitan Park, near Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets baseball team.

There are two other casino projects in driving in New York and a decision on which companies will win the three bids will be made at the end of this year or early 2026.

Rio is cutting bands again baccarat room in the middle of renovation of $ 350 million

Rio Hotel casino revealed a new Baccarat room last week and marked another step in the off-strip property renovation with several phases.

Rios Baccarat room is located just outside the main casino floor and is designed to accommodate players at all experience levels, according to a news message.

“We are pleased to reveal our new Baccarat room, developed in response to the increasing momentum behind Rio’s gaming operations,” said Patrick Miller, the president of the property and the CEO. “This inviting new space marks the latest step in the ongoing transformation of our casino floor. As guest preferences continue to develop, we remain engaged in delivering a dynamic, including gaming experience that reflects Rio Las Vegas Energy and Spirit.”

The new table game is among the latest upgrades of properties that include Canteen Food Hall, Lapa Lounge and Luckley Tavern & Grill, all of which have opened since Dreamscape companies took over Rio almost two years ago.

Dreamscape bought Rio for $ 516.3 million from Caesars Entertainment in 2019, with the latter company that maintained the operational control of the property until October 2023. The New York City-based Dreamscape plans to spend up to $ 350 million to restore the property.

The prospects of North Jersey casinos behaved again when NYC Threat’s looms

New Jersey legislators again propose a constitutional amendment to allow personal casino games in areas of the Garden State in addition to Atlantic City.

The introduced legislation would create a constitutional vote asking voters whether casinos should be allowed on Meadowland’s racetrack in East Rutherford and Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport.

Previous attempts to expand games in NJ have failed, by 2016 when voters overwhelmingly rejected the idea.

There are currently nine casinos in Atlantic City. Online casinos in NJ now account for more monthly gaming revenue than brick and masonry properties in Atlantic City.

Legislators of NJ hopes to discourage the threatening threat of New York City Casinos, which most industry experts believe will cause further contraction of the Atlantic City Casino market. New York City is awarding three Class III casino licenses, which would enable Las Vegas style games in Big Apple.

“This (introduced legislation) plants a flag to send a message to New York State that if they open a casino in Manhattan, the New Jersey is ready to respond to the competition,” said the State Senator Paul Sarlo, one of two fellow sponsors for the gaming proposal.
