Day three of Wimbledon 2025 delivered a mixture of dominant performances, long battles and a couple of more surprising upgradations under cloudy London sky.
Carlos Alcaraz returned to the top form, while Cameron Norrie and João Fonseca recorded impressive winnings. With this side of the draw that was already thin on the ground for top seeds after Monday’s opening round, two others fell on the road when Tiefoe (12) and Lehecka (23) blew golden opportunities to make the latter stages of a grand sludge.
However, Taylor Fritz held his tournament alive with another five-set victory and saw by Gabriel Diallo 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-3 under the roof of court one. The fifth seeded American has a great chance to do the semi -finals, but he is doing heavy work so far.
Several matches remain unresolved, with Botic van de Zandschulp against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (1-6, 6-4, 3-6, 5-5), Arthur Fery vs. Luciano Dardeni (4-6, 3-6), Cristian Garin vs. Arthur Rinderk (6-3, 3-6, 6-7, 6-7), 3), and Felias Augias) against Jan-Lennard Stuff (6-3, 6-7 (9)) were all forced to complete their matches on Thursday due to the darkness suspended the game.

Alcaraz Trunces Tarvet

Regular service was resumed for Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday when he turned on the style in his second round at Wimbledon and dismantled the British qualifier Oliver Tarvet 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in a much more polished screen at Center Court.
After an astonishing five-sets against Fabio Fognini in his opener, the Spaniard was back to his reckless best, and needed just over two hours to see the tardvet, hammer 37 winners and break Tarvet server six times.
I thought Alcaraz was playing some decent things, and he was just too good for Tarvet, who has never met the caliber of players before. The Spanjole plays too fast and too heavy for him.
Brit deserves Plaudits after coming through qualification rather than relying on a wild card as no-hopers, and I do not remember another BRIT qualification since Marcus Willis already in 2017.
He showed that he also has games, especially in the second set, where he released some quality pictures. But Alcaraz’s mix of power and precision turned out too much.
I have to praise Oliver, his second match on the tour. I just love his game to be honest. The level he played in the first match at the Center Court, which I know is really difficult, he showed good tennis. I knew that in the beginning I had to be really focused, had to play my best tennis. Today I just played good tennis and I am really happy with my game today. I found the right way to try to enjoy after each match. When I go to court, I just try to enjoy. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose. It is the key in the last two or three months, with a fantastic winning steak in succession and I just like. Alcaraz on his win.
Other important matches

Andrey rubled Def. Lloyd Harris 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3
Andrey Rublev, No. 14 seed, was driven into Wimbledon third round with a hard-fought victory over South Africa Lloyd Harris.
After losing the first set in a tiebreak, collected rubles to win 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in 2 hours and 48 minutes. He fired 12 ESS and 42 winners and overcame 27 unthreated errors to convert 3 out of 8 breaking points.
Harris, ranked as No. 320 but clearly better than it stopped competitive with 25 aces but vacated with 35 unmatched errors.
Rublev’s clutch game in the third set of tiebreak (7-5) turned out to be crucial and set up a third round with Adrian Mannarino.
Karen Khachanov Def. Shintaro Mochizuki 1-6, 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
Karen Khachanov survived a five-set fight against Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki to move on. The 3-hour 43-minute marathon ended 1-6, 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, with Khachanov who sanded to victory in a match, the Japanese will be disappointed to lose.
Mochizuki won more first and second serving points, won more first and second serving points, met more winners, made fewer unmatched mistakes and won seven points. Still lost in five sets. Ouch.
Cameron Norrie Def. Frances tiafoe 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5
Cameron Norrie upset No. 12 Frö Frances Tiefoe, advanced with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 victory in just under three hours.
Norrie is a tricky customer, and Tiefoe struggled with texture and made 33 unthreated errors. The British sets up a third round match against Mattia Bellucci, who upset Jiri Lehecka. A terrible return day for Czech, which would have given a deep drive after the draw was opened and he did the final at Queen’s.
João Fonseca Def. Jenson Brooksby 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4
João Fonseca secured a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jensen Brooksby to become the first Brazilian man who reached the third round on SW19 since Thomaz Bellucci 2010.
Brooksby is a good match player with an unorthodox, cunning style, but his 28 unmatched errors handed over Fonseca the Edge, which used his firepower for good effect.
He is now facing the qualifier Nicolas Jarry in the third round after he sent the student Tien 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
