Wimbledon 2025 Day Ten Recap

The upper half of Wimbledon’s draw was stuck on Wednesday, when Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic both booked their places in the semi-finals, but not without any questions.

Sinner, who drew himself into the last eight, showed no signs of discomfort as he sent Ben Shelton in straight sets and extended his head-to-head to 6-1 against the American. It was a pure, composite performance from the world No. 1, which was barely threatened over two hours meeting.

Djokovic’s path was more difficult. The seven-time champion dropped the opening set to Flavio Cobolli but slowly claimed control, overcame a frightening performance and a short slip at the match point to secure his record 14th Wimbledon semi-final quay. Cobolli showed flashes of shine, but did not end the calm needed in the big moments.

Friday’s semi -final between Sinner and Djokovic is now canceled, and if Novak is not damaged from his slip at the match point, it may be showdown this year’s tournament has been built against.

This is how day ten developed on SW19.

Sinner sinks Shelton

sins wimbledonsins wimbledon

Jannik Sinner silenced concerns about a precursor to elbow injury with a leading performance on Wednesday and defeated Ben Shelton 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 to reach his second Wimbledon semi-finals.

To have a chance, I thought Shelton needed a sambra-like performance-served well and then go for broke the returns and hope that a window of opportunities presents itself.

He almost succeeded with the first part, but his return was unhappy and won only two points on return in the entire first set.

The two breaking points he managed to create occurred in the opening game in the set two, but he could not convert.

Sinner turned out to be solid accordingly, as he will not rally by Shelton in a million years. Therefore, he has won six straight meetings against the American and released no sets in any of them.

I thought Shelton was playing okay, and I like how he chose to go big on his serve much of the time rather than kick it in, because his average speeds at 1st and 2nd were well on his previous matches at Wimbledon. But from the ground he could not produce the type of images required.

I am very, very happy about today’s performance/ playing against him is so difficult. You have chances and then he earns very well, which we saw in the last game. Overall, we play each other more and more, we get to know each other a little better, and I look forward to such kinds. Sinners on their winnings.

Djokovic conquers Cobbolli

Novak Djokovic navigated a tricky meeting on Wednesday and overcame 22nd seed Flavio Cobbolli 6-7 (6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 to reach a record 14th semi-finals at the championship.

The seven-time champion, after a first set loss he did against Alex de Minaur, managed to dampen Italian athletics in a 3-hour battle at the Center Court.

Djokovic started solid enough, but vacated when he served the first set of 5-3. Cobolli then recovered from 2/5 down in tiebreak, which saved a set value 5/6 with a forehand pass and dressed the set with an unrectioned serving.

Djokovic responded in the second and dominated with a high first serve percentage and sharper baseline game, and cut wrong to level the match in about 35 minutes.

The third saw Cobolli rally from an interruption to 5-5 with a 20-minute blast of shine, but a loose game gave Djokovic the set.

In the fourth, Djokovic broke in the ninth game when Cobolli netted a forehand volley, so that Serbian could serve it. It was not easy when he slid on the baseline during his second match point, but he regained his foot to seal the victory.

From the rehearsals it looked nasty, and I thought he already seemed pretty bony in the fourth, often stretched out at the end of ends, so it will be interesting to see what happens in the next 24 hours.

When it comes to Cobolli, he showed that he has plenty of games and hits super hard on both wings. However, there was a terrible miss at the breaking point of 4-4 in the fourth. I’m not sure what Cobolli was trying to do; It almost looked like he wanted to miss it.

A huge congratulations to Flavio for a fantastic tournament. I played him once last year in tough courts, and we have met quite a lot on different surfaces, but we had never played on grass. I had seen him play here and knew he was playing well. It is always different to practice playing in an official match. He played at a really high level. I think that what surprised me a lot was his serve. He earned at a really fast pace and went for his shots. He is such a talented and skilled player and one of the guys we will see in the future. Well, I finished the match. It was a nasty slip but that’s what happens when you play on the grass. I think I hadn’t fallen so far this year. It is a bit surprising because how I move on the grass, very sliding, aggressive movement, you are expected to fall and have this kind of situation. It came in a difficult moment but I managed to find a good serving and close it. I will visit this topic now with my physio. Djokovic on his win and fall.
