The first day in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2025, Cameron Norrie saw a Gutsy five-set victory over the qualifier Nicolas Jarry in today’s match and kept British jumps alive under the closed roof of the No. 1 Court.
Carlos Alcaraz overcame a slow start to send Andrey Rublev, while Taylor Fritz and Karen Khachanov both advanced with minimal hassle.
Norrie needed four hours and 27 minutes to grind through Jarry’s service-heavy abuse, while Alcaraz showed flashes of gloss to turn his collision with rubled after losing the opener.
Elsewhere, Fritz advanced after Jordan Thompson retired with a back injury, and Khachanov continues to silent his impressive grass car form.

Norrie surpasses Jarry

Cameron Norrie kept British hopes alive at Wimbledon on Sunday and split past the Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry in a 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (7), 6-7 (5), 6-3 battle at the No. 1 Court to secure its second career quarter.
Norrie is a former top 10 but has had a couple of bad seasons, but his attitude rarely wakes up from fighting for each ball and D Buoyed by a rushing audience under the closed roof, overcome dragged match points in the third set of tiebreak and a 4-2 lead in the four-set switches to Tiumph after 4 hours and 27 minutes.
Jarry, who came through the qualification before the fantastic Holger Rune in the first round, drove Norrie to the verge with his thriving serving and heavy baseline games, and he was undoubtedly the better player for significant periods of the meeting. Still, he was down two sets.
He went on to save the match point in the third set of tiebreak with a massive serving-negotiated combination and flap back from 2-4 in the fourth set-tie break to force a decision, but Norrie’s relentless defense and unmatched fitness showed the difference.
Honestly, I don’t know how I did it. Credit to Nico [Nicolas Jarry]. He did an incredible job. He played better than me in both tie-breaks [that he lost]. I had to continue fighting. I forgot to have my coach a birthday present today, so I had to win the victory for him! “He hung in there but I continued to take care of my serving. The atmosphere was so good and I appreciate the audience to get me through. Norrie on her win.
Alcaraz rally past Rubelv

Carlos Alcaraz’s weather out an early blip on Sunday evening, before shooting back to the clinic EN 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory to reach the quarter finals.
Rublev broke early in the first without really doing too much, but Alcaraz broke back and led 5-3 in the switch just to see Rublev to roll on four straight points to take it.
None of the players really met the heights in more open, but Alcaraz won more points, met more winners and made less unlucky mistakes so you never got the impression that he was in trouble and just had to raise his level slightly to restore control.
It was pretty much what happened and he converted his only breaking point in the second set to level.
In the third, the highlighter came at 3-3, 30/40 when Alcaraz, stretched wide, ripped a jaw-relieving advance pass to break Rublev’s serve after the Russian thought he had played a perfect point.
The fourth was a similar story with another single break that made the difference and Rublev never looked at to get back on levels.
Alcaraz only lost the service once (early in the first) and although it was not as clinical as Djoker and Sinner’s Wins yesterday he still played well in periods and his match statistics are decent. If Rublev could offer some variety it may have been more interesting but when he ventured to the net he never looked like winning a point up there.
Andrey is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful player we have on the tour. Without a doubt, with how aggressive he is for the ball, with the advance, with these shots, it is really difficult. To meet him, you feel he pushes you to the limit with each ball, [making you] Run side by side. It makes it really hard to meet him, but I’m just really happy with how I moved today. I think I played intelligently and smartly today against him. Tactically it was a really good match, which I am really proud of. Alcaraz on his win.

Taylor Fritz (5) Def. Jordan Thompson 6-1, 3-0 retired
Taylor Fritz cruised into his third Wimbledon quarter final on Sunday, when Jordan Thompson retired 6-1, 3-0 on court no. 1, with reference to back pain.
Fritz will be happy to spend just 40 minutes on court after his back-to-back five-sets in the two introductory rounds. Had Thomspn been in shape, I think he could have received a set because he is a decent grass advice but I still give Fritz’s edge.
“It’s hard to move on like this. Jordan has grinding through five-sets and doubles, so massive respect for him struggling even though his body released. I wish him a speedy recovery.
That’s not how I want to go through. I was really excited about playing Jordan today. I was happy to play good tennis and it’s just boring. He has struggled. He has played five-sets. He was out playing a long doubles yesterday, so he has struggled out here. Respect for him for coming out. His body is not right, so I feel bad for him and hope he is feeling better. Fritz on his win.
Karen Khachanov Def. Kamil Majchrzak 6-4, 6-2, 6-3
Karen Khachanov drove into the Wimbledon quarter final with a clinical 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 dismantling the Polish qualifier Kamil Majchrzak on court no. 2.
Khachanov is often underestimated, as he is consistently close to the business end of tournaments he enters.
After collecting from 2-5 down in the fifth set against Nuno Borges in the third round, he showed no signs of fatigue, fired 44 winners to just 21 unthreated errors and breaks earn six times in a fast 1 hour and 48 minutes.
Khachanov entered SW19 with a Halle semi -final run, and he has earned exceptionally well and given him a realistic shot at taking out Fritz.
