Venetian reaches the first agreement with Labor Union | Casinos and games

Operation Engineers Local 501 has completed its first contract with Venetian Hotel casino, which covers hundreds of workers on one of the strip’s largest properties.

The five -year agreement applies to approximately 400 employees and includes wage increases, annual bonuses, medical coverage, free craft training and a defined pension plan, according to a news message. The new contract follows an organizational campaign with several trade unions that resulted in a neutrality agreement in 2023 and successful trade union for Local 501 in July 2024.

“I am proud to see the contract finally and implemented,” said Chris Park, a construction engineer at Venetian Resort Las Vegas, in the publication. “The new rights and benefits in (collective bargaining agreements) will help secure my future and my colleagues’ future.”

In Las Vegas, Local 501 represents maintenance engineers, slot machines and other construction workers. The Union represents more than 10,000 workers over Nevada, Arizona and Southern California.

“This CBA reflects the hard work, the commitment and solidarity of the 400 men and women who help raise the standard for our business in Las Vegas,” said Jose Soto, operational engineers Local 501’s head of organization. “The Local 501 is proud to have worked with the Venetian construction facility maintenance workers and slot machines over the past two years to ensure an area -leading contract.”

Local 501 worked with Culinary Union Local 226, Bartenders Local 165 and Teamsters Local 986 to secure a short control neutrality agreement with Venetian two years ago. The Union was recognized on the property last summer.

“We are grateful for the strong partnership with Operation Engineers Local 501 and we look forward to a continued collaboration relationship as we go towards the future,” said Matt Krystofiak, Chief Human Resources Officer for Venetian.

The Union says two strip properties do not have a contract with Local 501. A spokesman for Wynn/Encore said the company did not have a comment. The union has not yet organized workers at Fontainebleau.
