US Open 2025 Day Ten Recap

The American open quarter final began on Tuesday with two heavyweight conflicts that set the stage for an exciting semi -finals on Friday.

Carlos Alcaraz stayed perfectly in sets and dismantled Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 with a performance that showed how much more complete his game has been in 2025. The span was never met a break point and won 84% of the first serving points and looked at cruise control all the time to reach its third US Open-Sem.

At the Ashe during the night session, Novak Djokovic extended its flawless head-to-head over Taylor Fritz to 11-0 and survived a late push to win 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in just over three hours.

For Fritz it was a night with “what could have been”; Missed chances in the second set, a double error at the match point and more evidence that the mental obstacle to meeting Djokovic remains enormous.

For Novak, it marked a record-binding 14th US Open semi-final and confirmed a semi-final-showdown with Alcaraz.

At 38 years old, Djokovic has now done the last four on all four majors this season, while Alcaraz will remain on course for Slam no. 6. Their semi-finals will be the 9th meeting with the Serbs leading 5-3 on H2H.

Carlos Alcaraz drove over the 20th seed Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to maintain his set-Loss-free campaign.

Alcaraz is like a new player this season because he has become much more consistent over the entire matches, and he only lost 14 points on serving and won 84% of the first services (38/45) and met no break points on an hour, 56-minute collision.

Although you may be able to question some of his opponents’ caliber, Alcaraz has dominated all the coming so far in New York, and he looked a step ahead of Lehecka.

I can’t remember a place where he looked in too much care, with the only real sticky spots on 0-15 when he served for the first set (he produced a brilliant point) and when he served at 3-2 15-30 in the second set, where he again came with a clutch turn to prevent two break points.

Lehecka played well enough, and he met some huge grounds, but Carlos just soaked them up to get the job done.

Novak Djokovic Def. Taylor Fritz, 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4

Novak Djokovic surpassed fourth seed Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to bind Jimmy Connor’s record with 14 tournament semi-finals.

The seventh seed saved 11 out of 13 break points, including five at 5-3 in the first, in a three-hour, 24-minute battle.

At this point, it is quite a lot mentally for Fritz because he is 0-11 in H2H, and while he clearly has the game to invest Novak at this time in their careers, it is such a huge misery psychologically.

2 out of 13 breakpoints converted and a double error at the match point does not make good read, but the key was the second set; The American had two break points in Game Four, dropped serve in Game Eight, broke back in Game Nine, but played a terrible service game to release a serve in Game Ten and then served Novak it.

While Fritz won the third set and the fourth was close, his serving did not land at important moments and played the most mentally tough player of all time, which has a 10-0 lead against you at night, again showed too much of an obstacle to him.

Novak has now made the semi -finals of all four Grand Slams this season, which is unknown in 38 years, and he will be happy to avoid going five sets that before Alcaraz during the last four will be an upward task.

Incredibly close to match. It was really someone’s match. I thought I was lucky to save some decisive breakpoints in the second set. I think that for most of the second and third sets he was a better player. In this type of matches, some points determine the winner. I did not feel that I dominated today from the back of the court. In many of my service games, I just tried to stay alive, fight for each ball. He was aggressive and stayed near the line. Not easy to play him. At the end of the day, winning questions, and I’m really proud of the fight I put in, and I carry my heart on the sleeve always for this sport. I still like it. Djokovic on his win.
