Prepare to be shown on a dreamy sonic adventure with Laurens glittering new EP, ‘Wonderlust’.
Over six shimmering tracks, the rising pop icon explores the electrical allure of love, self-discovery and the intoxicating draw of the unknown … Everything is set to an irrevocable disco-stact — What is it not to love?
In this exclusive function, LO breaks the lyrical meaning and inspiration behind each of the songs in the project! Check out what she has to say below …
WONDER
‘Wonder’ Is like popping candy to me – fizzy, exciting and nostalgic !! It is the ultimate feeling good summer song – roof down, hair that blows in the wind, main character – and it was the song that started everything. The drawing for ‘Wonderlust’.
Before the kiss
‘Before kiss’ Is two minutes of pure desire! I have always loved the moment before you kiss someone – the few seconds of expectation of what is developing, and so really wanted to recreate it in a song … Voila here she is!
Born to run
‘Born to run’ is about my feelings of ambition, need for driving force and constant battle for prioritization ‘Real life’ Vs my dreams. It takes a lot of sacrifice and can sometimes lead to you fleeing from things that are good for you, which is really difficult.
Rose & Jack
‘Rose & Jack’ is probably the most meaningful and honest song I’ve released so far, and my first ballad !! It is about the struggle to hide your feelings for someone, the pain of not being able to celebrate your love openly and the frustration of keeping it in the shadows. It is nice to share something minimal, emotional and more peeled back, with a great focus on the songwriting that shows a more vulnerable side to me. So I hope it gets people in their feelings as much as for me!
Would it be so bad
‘Should it be so bad’ is like the devil on your shoulder and puts you to think bad thoughts, like – “Maybe I. Should come with my friend ??? “ FYI The answer to that question / idea is always no! Unfortunately we sometimes get a little drunk and a little horny and that is what happens! It’s sad, fun and we wrote it in the middle of Soho on a Saturday night, so I feel like the promiscuous, late evening (Lowkey Drunk) Energy Pulses through.
