The wait is over: “Happy Gilmore 2” arrives July 25 on Netflix

The sequel drops at 3 o’clock and midnight PT on Netflix and comes packed with a mixture of returning role members, high-profile Komos and professional athletes, which signals both a tribute to the original and a development of Happy Gilmore universe.

Returning favorites and new faces

Adam Sandler recalls his role as Happy Gilmore, with Julie Bowen returning when Virginia Venit and Christopher McDonald again enter the shoes from Happy’s Longtime Rival, Shooter McGavin. The film also reunites Sandler with original Happy Gilmore stars Ben Stiller and Blake Clark, while introducing an assortment of fresh talent and surprising Komos.

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, joins the role, together with Sandler’s daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler. Other remarkable performances include Jackie Sandler, Eric André, Margaret Qualley, Martin Herlihy, Tim Herlihy, Nelly Korda, Nancy Lopez, Kevin Nealon, Benny Safdie and comedian John Farley, Kym Whitley and LaVell Crawford.

Pop cultural icons and athletes also pepper the film: Rapper Eminem, Post Malone, Cam’ron, Trivia legend Ken Jennings and NFL star Travis Kelce make all performances. Among the professional golfers, the movie features from Rory Mcilroy, Bryson Dechambeau, Brooks Koepka, Paige Spiranac, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Will Zalatoris and John Daly – all who ensure that golf sequences hit the fans of the sport.

In particular, Happy now has four sons – hockey goons in its own right – played by “shameless” star Ethan Cutkosky, Conor Sherry, Pro wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman and newcomer Philip Fine Schneider.

Creative team is reunited

Behind the scenes remain “Happy Gilmore 2” firmly anchored in its original creative DNA. Tim Herlihy, who together wrote the 1996 classic, returns to write the sequel together with Adam Sandler. Government tasks shift to the “Murder Mystery” film creator Kyle Newacheck, while the original “Happy Gilmore” director Dennis Dugan enters as executive producer. Long -term Sandler -Collaborators Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds also return as producers, which reinforces the creative team’s continued investment in the legacy of the franchise.

You want to do something that feels worth what it meant to people.”
