‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ drops first teaser as original cast reunites for 2026 sequel

Almost two decades after The Devil Wears Prada Making its way into pop culture history, 20th Century Studios has unveiled the first teaser for its long-awaited sequel – and it’s wasting no time in resurrecting that signature blend of style and bite.

Released Wednesday morning, the teaser opens to Madonna’s “Vogue” as Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs steps into an elevator behind Meryl Streep’s icy editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, who turns and quips, “It took you long enough.” The brief exchange doesn’t offer any plot hints, but fans needed no more as social media immediately erupted with excitement at the return of fashion’s most terrifying duo.

Again directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel is slated for theatrical release on May 1, 2026. Alongside Streep and Hathaway, original stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles, reuniting the iconic Runway newspaper quartet. This time, the story reportedly shifts to Miranda’s perspective as she grapples with the decline of the printing industry, hinting at a timely reflection on the evolution of modern media and influence.

The film also introduces an impressive lineup of new faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, BJ Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman return as Lily and Irv, while Lady Gaga has been seen filming scenes in an as-yet-undisclosed role.

Produced by Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt, The Devil Wears Prada 2 marks a full-circle reunion for one of cinema’s most quotable ensembles—and a long-awaited revival for fans who have been waiting since 2006 to see Miranda Priestly back where she belongs: on top.
