The Vancouver overpower lived up to its name on Saturday and grew to the top of the Call of Duty League Stage 2 large position with a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Guerrilla’s M8.
Atlanta Faze, Carolina Royal Ravens and Toronto Ultra also raised victories on Saturday.
Stage 2 Major Qualifying Round consists of 12 teams, with each who played seven qualified matches until March 16 to determine sowing for the scene 2 big playoffs, scheduled for March 20-23 in Dallas.
The over-voltage opened its match against the guerrillas with a victory 201-140 at Red Card Hardpoint and a 6-5 victory on protocol search and destroys. LA could avoid the sweep with a 3-1 victory on Vault Control, but could not pull off the comeback when Vancouver finished the match with a victory 250-205 on Protocol Hardpoint.
Faze was opened against the Miami chairs with a victory 250-174 at Red Card Hardpoint. However, Atlanta tied on the map with a 6-5 victory on Vault search and destroys. Faze regained the advantage of a 3-1 victory on the protocol control and then put it away with a victory 250-192 at Hacienda Hardpoint.
Carolina broke past the optical Texas-250-140 on Protocol Hardpoint, 6-1 on red card search and destruction and 3-2 on Hacienda control. But Ultra had a much more difficult time in his match with Boston and lost 250-172 on Protocol Hardpoint before taking the next two maps: 6-2 on Vault Search and Destroy and 3-2 on Red Card Control. Ultra replied with a victory 250-221 at Hacienda Hardpoint before Ultra closed it with a 6-4 victory on Skyline search and destroys.
Week 2 continues on Sunday with three planned matches.
