Sklaerenn Lorand: Capturing Cinema Through a Human Lens

Los Angeles is a city built on images, but few photographers manage to make them feel truly intimate. Sklaerenn Lorand is one of those rare visual storytellers. A French photographer now based in LA, Sklaerenn has carved out a distinct place in the entertainment world with his cinematic eye and deeply human approach to portraiture.

Trained at ICART Photo in Levallois-Perret near Paris, Sklaerenn refined both his technical skills and his artistic flair early on. From the beginning, she was drawn to creative environments where emotions live just below the surface. Theater rehearsals, musical performances, film sets, concerts and behind-the-scenes moments all became spaces where she could quietly observe and capture what is often unseen.

Her work is defined by a subtle use of natural light, an instinctive sense of timing and a storytelling style that transforms a single image into a visual story. Instead of staging emotion, Sklaerenn lets it unfold naturally, resulting in portraits that feel authentic, sensitive and quietly powerful. Each photograph feels less like a pose and more like a moment paused in time.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Sklaerenn has expanded her work into film and television environments. She has collaborated on the independent film Screamboat and the American short film Always and For Never, further cementing her connection to cinematic storytelling. Her images have also appeared in major international publications, including Glamour, Teen Vogue, the New York Post and SFMagazine, reflecting the breadth of her editorial, event and artistic projects.

Looking ahead, Sklaerenn’s ambition is firmly rooted in film and series production. She hopes to collaborate with major studios and platforms such as Warner Bros, Universal, Netflix and Amazon, where her understated yet emotionally driven style can capture the atmosphere and authenticity of life on set. Her goal is not only to document productions, but to preserve the fleeting moments that define the creative process.

A major milestone came in December, when Sklaerenn began participating in an exhibit at the Bowers Museum, which runs through March 21, 2026. The exhibit features some of her photographs alongside Indian designers and models in a Bollywood-themed showcase, highlighting her ability to move seamlessly across cultures and artistic disciplines.

Today, Sklaerenn Lorand continues to develop her editorial projects, artist portraits and event collaborations. With each frame, she strengthens a visual language where emotion, sensitivity and cinematic storytelling intersect, establishing her as a growing presence in the international visual entertainment landscape.
