I thought both guys were playing well, but Khachanov looked a little tired towards the end. He is one of the most impressive guys on the tour when it comes to fitness, played lots of long matches and rarely looks tired, but after going to a third set-break less than 24 hours ago, it was a big question to do the same again.

There were a few matches early in the second set that was extremely physical with long rally, which probably did the “injury”, but it still went down to a tie break where Shelton’s first strike tennis proved the difference.

I have a lot to say, but I want to start with Karen. I’m sorry for tonight. Incredible week. I saw many of your matches. The level you have played this week is really, really high. How you hit the ball tonight can’t many people in the world hit the ball like that. I’m lucky to have come out of this with the victory. But I’m just happy to see you beat back on the door for the top 10. Vice versa, what you said about my team. I feel the same as yours. You are the same. Class documents. Great friends. Big competitors, but you do things properly. You work hard week in and week out. Whether you are on a hot streak or lose matches, you are always the same type of guy, mild giant. It is an honor to share the court with you every time. I hope we can play another couple of finals in the future. Shelton at the final.

I played six hours of tennis over the past two days. I’m a little tired to be honest. First and foremost, I would like to congratulate legs and your team. I remember I had a conversation with your father 3 or 4 years ago in Cincinnati when you got a joke sign. You played college right now .. I told him to listen, you wear Casper Ruud. You should try. ‘He should listen to me to be honest. Great success so far. You broke into the top 10. You won your first Masters 1000. I wish you the best. You are one of the nicest guys on the tour. You have a large family, polite, educated .. Your father, mom, the whole family .. Congratulations. Khachanov in his runners up speech.
