Liverpool-based five parts Girl group Continue its ascent to the top of Planet Pop this week with the release of its last single ‘FLINK Pike’.

With the title derived from a Nordic expression which means “Good girl” – A phrase that is often used to describe young women who strive to meet impossible expectations – the snappy sounding track sharply criticizes the contradictory pressure placed on women and questions society’s rigid definitions of femininity.
Produced by the band along with Maria OlsenThe Contemporary Pop Anthem serves as the follow -up to the girls previous edition “Yes! Saturday ‘ who received support from those who BBC Radio 1The BBC introducesThe Line with best fit and Sir Elton John.
The band comments on the single and says: “We see young girls trying to perform to be everything at once and completely pleasant – to get the best grades, be the party’s life, head of the student council, etc. But it is used to show how our expectations of young girls are much higher than for young boys.”
Filmed in Girl Group’s local Liverpool Ballet Studio and inspired by “Carefully designed aesthetics in Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson”The songs that come with music place the band members in a surreal audition setting, where they are forced to compete for approval.
According to a press release: “Through subtle gestures and expressions, their personality and humor shine through and reveal the underlying tension between expectations and individuality for women: Flink Pike.”
