Poker Palace gets new name | Casinos & Games

Reconstruction of the interior of the Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas is currently underway, an executive with the casino’s parent company said.

Nevada Gaming Control Board members recommended Wednesday that Sparks-based Truckee Gaming LLC approve a gaming license to operate Poker Palace Casino as Club Fortune Casino North.

Truckee Gaming bought the Poker Palace in October for $20 million and closed it to remodel the casino.

Truckee manager Ferenc Szony told gaming regulators Wednesday that the rebuilding of the interior is underway. The company has chosen to reopen the property with a race and sports book to be operated as a Boomers Sportsbook.

In separate votes, the board also recommended license approval for Boomers at Stockman’s Casino in Fallon and at Grand Lodge Casino in Incline Village in addition to Club Fortune in North Las Vegas.

Truckee Gaming, which operates several casinos in northern Nevada and one in Henderson, is investing heavily in Poker Palace’s transformation. Plans include a complete interior and exterior remodel, new slot machines and gaming systems, a redesigned bar, expanded restaurant and kitchen space, modernized restrooms and a revitalized poker room.

Poker Palace first opened on Las Vegas Boulevard North in 1974.
