Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez makes her Broadway debut in &Juliet

Two-time medal-winning Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez will make his Broadway debut this spring &Juliet.

Laurie will join the ensemble in a dance role named Charmion for a limited 12-week run at the Sondheim Theatre, from March 17 to June 14, 2026.

Speaking about the show, Laurie said: “I’ve always been a huge Broadway fan, so to make my Broadway debut in &Juliet is a dream come true. The show is so much fun to watch as an audience, and I can’t wait to join this incredible cast and actually perform in the show every night.”

&Juliet is the popular jukebox musical that recreates Shakespeare’s classic story Romeo and Juliet. It begs the question: what would have happened to Juliet didn’t do it die? The musical is packed with humor and heart, featuring some of Max Martin’s biggest pop hits.

Laurie is best known for being an Olympic gymnast. She was part of the US women’s gymnastics team dubbed the “Final Five” at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, along with Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman. During the event, the team won a gold medal while Laurie also took home a silver medal on Balance Beam.

In recognition of her influence and Latina heritage, Mattel introduced a Laurie Hernandez “Shero” Barbie. Since then, Laurie has written two books, I Got This: To Gold and Beyondand She has thisand received a Sports Emmy Award for his commentary on the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The gymnast also showed off her nifty footwork on season 23 of dancing with the stars, won the show with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
