Munya Chawawa strives to create lasting change with the launch of the Black Boys Theater Club

Comedian A chald has today (October 14) announced the launch of Black Boys Theater Club (BBTC) -A powerfully new socially -leaded initiative aimed at opening the theater world for a new generation of young black boys.

Thought of Chawawa and developed silently over the past 12 months, BBTC came out of the satirist and the author’s own personal trip to theater – a world full of creative freedom, but one where he often felt unwelcome and rarely looked reflected.

In its heart, BBTC is dedicated to breaking down “Cultural, economic and emotional obstacles” It has long made the theater feel inaccessible for young black boys. It stands as an open invitation to a space that has too often overlooked them – and an opportunity to redefine the future of the British Theater, both on stage and behind the scenes.

With the support of important cultural organizations including Nando’sThe National TheaterThe Regent’s Park Open Air Theater and Bush TheaterThe Black Boys Theater Club works with several schools in London to combine playing experiences with Chawawa with real behind the scenes access to the industry and offers not only one place in the audience, but a look behind the curtain for 15 and 16-year-olds.

In a transition to further strengthen a sense of society, each BBTC trip ends with a debrief at Nando’s, where Munya and the boys discuss the piece and its themes over food. The ambition is to create a generation of young black men who feel “Authorized to enjoy theater, is encouraged to participate themselves and be inspired to contribute to art through their own lives and careers”.

Speaking of the initiative, Chawawa shares: “Black men dazzle us consistently on stage and on the screen, but for young black boys bridge between the first creative spark and its Supernova potential is not always easy or encouraged. Black Boys the Club will act as a starting point for that journey-free, laugh-free, Laughing-free, Laughing-free, Laughing-free, Laughing-free, Laughter-free, Laughing-free, Laughing Free, Laughing Free. A wonderful world.

“As a new conversion itself, this video is my own personal Ode to theater, the glimpse in my eye brought life by other amazing young, black actors that I admire. So much of my work focuses on tackling the evil and bad news that plagues society, but the Black Boys Theater Club gives me easy, hopes and many, many,” many, “many.”
