Viewers tuned in for the spectacle, but on Sunday evening at New York’s UBS Arena, the limelight was stuck on the brightest stars of the music industry as 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAS) distributed their signature moon’s trophies. The annual celebration of pop culture moments, chart-tops and visual arts delivered no shortage of prominent profits-with Lady Gaga who leads the accusation.

Gaga, who came into the night as the most nominated artist with 12 nods, proved her dominance again by taking home four trophies, including this year’s coveted MTV VMAs. Her Bruno Mars collaboration “Die with a Smile” also secured the best collaboration, while her vision behind the music got her both best direction and best art direction.k

The night also saw Ariana Grande collecting three lunar people – including this year’s video for “Brighter Days Ahead” – and Sabrina Carpenter show up as another big winner with a trio of awards that span the best pop and MTV VMA album for the year of the year of Short n ‘cute. At the same time, Rosé got this year’s song for his Bruno Mars duet “Apt.” And Blackpinks Lisa held K-pop in the limelight with her victory for “Born Again” together with Doja Cat and Raye.

The legends were also celebrated: Mariah Carey received the career-defining video Vanguard award, Ricky Martin became the first recipient of the Latin Icon Award, and Busta Rhymes was honored with The Rock the Bell’s Visionary Award-Var and a punctured its recognition with Powerhous Medley-Media-Medley
