MLB Roundup: Cubs earns wild 13-11 victory over D-backs

Carson Kelly met two Homers, Kyle Tucker, Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki also went deep, and the host Chicago Cubs blew a six-run lead against Arizona Diamondbacks before recovering for a 13-11 victory on Friday.

Eugenio Suarez met a Grand Slam and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Had a three-run Homer in a 10-run eighth round to give Diamondbacks a lead of 11-7, but Cubs responded with six runs in half of the eighth.

Arizona Right Hander Bryce Jarvis met Nico Hoerner and went Pete Crow Armstrong to open Cub’s eighth before Kelly’s Three-Run Homer, his second blast of the game, closed the deficit to 11-10. Happ singled by Joe Mantiply (0-1), before Tucker met a running two-run Homer and Suzuki made it back-to-back blasts.

Diamondbacks sent 13 men to the plate in the eighth and the kids had 12 in the lower half. The combined 16 runs were mostly in the eighth round of Wrigley Field History. Cubs leads Majors with 137 runs. Ryan Pressly (2-1) struck a speechless ninth and was credited to the victory.

Phillies 7, Marlins 2

Zack Wheeler knocked out 13 over seven strong rounds when Philadelphia topped to visit Miami.

Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber hammered in support of Wheeler (2-1), which allowed two runs on five hits while ending with the second highest sum of their career.

Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara (2-1) gave six runs on four hits in two rounds. Eric Wagaman met a two-run Homer for Miami, who knocked out 16 times while losing his fourth straight match.

Mets 5, Cardinals 4

Francisco Lindor led from the bottom of the ninth with a long home run for New York, who came back to beat St. Louis.

Mets have won the first two games in the four-game series and four out of six in total. The Cardinals have dropped three out of four. St. Louis’ Brendan Donovan band The game by Homera to lead the ninth against Huascar Brazoban (1-0) before Lindor hit the third pitch he saw from Ryan Fernandez (0-2) into the other tire in the right field.

Mets Starter David Peterson gave up three runs on seven hits as he knocked out nine over 5 1/3 rounds. Cardinal Starter Miles Mikolas allowed two runs on five hits over 4 2/3 rounds.

Dodgers 3, Rangers 0

Tommy Edman led by the match with a home shopping and Yoshinobu Yamamoto won a pitch-duel with Jacob Degrom when Los Angeles beat Texas in the opener of a three-game Interleague series in Arlington, Texas.

Yamamoto and Degrom delivered brilliant seven-inning excursions when Dodgers won their fourth match in a row. Rangers had a total winning line with three games and a nine-game home-winning line. Yamamoto (3-1) allowed five hits and no runs while they knocked out 10 without issuing a walk.

Degrom (0-1) handed only three hits and one run. He went one, found seven and was completely innocent after making a mistake for the game’s first batter.

Brewers 5, Athletics 3

Freddy Peralta struggled through five speechless innings, Christian Yelich drove in three runs, and Milwaukee kept on a victory over the visiting athletics.

Peralta (2-1) had runners on board each inning before they went out with 3-0 lead. In the seventh, Brewers received an RBI foundation from Yelich and a driving single from William Contreras, which extended its striking line to 11 matches.

The A.s got two runs in the ninth and had the binding run at the plate in the ninth. Starter JT Ginn (1-1) allowed three runs on four hits in 4 2/3 rounds.

Red Sox 10, White Sox 3

Trevor Story gathered three hits, including a couple of three-run home races, to help Boston hit the visit Chicago and expand his winning line to three games.

History’s first home race put Boston in front of 3-0 in the first round, and his second bomb stretched the lead to 9-2 in seventh. Ceddanne Rafaela added a two-run home run and Carlos Narlsez met a solo shot.

Boston’s hunter Dobbins (2-0) made his second start in Majors and held Chicago for two runs (one earned) on three hits in six rounds. Andrew Benintendi home for Chicago, who has lost five in a row and all seven of their road games. Martin Perez (1-1) was drawn after three rounds with White Sox who beat 4-0.

Angels 2, Giants 0

Tyler Anderson allowed three hits through six speechless innings to lead Los Angeles past San Francisco in Anaheim, Calif.

Anderson (2-0) knocked out six and did not allow a Giants baserunner to reach the third base. Brock Burke, Ryan Zeferjahn and Kenley Jansen (fifth rescue) each beat a speechless inning. The Angels crime succeeded only five hits, three of Jo Adell, and one connection, two-out RBI doubles by Zach Neto in his first bats in the season when he returned from season surgery outside the season.

Giants starter Logan Webb (2-1) gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with a career-high 12 strike and no walks in six rounds.

Guardians 10, Pirates 7

Bo Naylor went 3-for-5 with a home run, one double and three RBI to lead Cleveland to a victory over host Pittsburgh.

Cleveland stopped a two-game skid with his first two-digit score game during the season while he a total of a season high 14 hits. Naylor’s two-run doubles to the center with one out in the fourth round, Carlos Santana and Gabriel received Arias to put Cleveland forward 4-2. Guardians then broke the game openly with five runs in seventh.

Bryan Reynolds went 3-for-5 with two RBI and started an almost comeback for Pirates and met a solo home run as part of a three-run bottom of seventh. Enmanuel Valdez met a two-run home run in that pittsburgh inning.

Tigers 7, Royals 3

Spencer Torkelson had a two-run double and host Detroit thumped sinking Kansas City.

Riley Greene had two hits, got two runs and hit another for Tigers, while Andy Ibanez met a solo -female. Tomas Nido added three hits and one RBI. Jackson Jobe (2-0) gave up a run of five hits in five rounds. Tommy Kahnle got the last two outs with the bases loaded for his fourth rescue.

Vinnie Pasquantino drove in two runs and made the other for Kansas City, who has lost five straight. Royal Starter Cole Ragans (1-1) gave up five runs and six hits in four plus ins. Reliever Lucas Erceg was removed in the seventh after being hit in the right leg by a comeback by Greene.

Red 8, Orioles 3

Elly de la Cruz and Matt Mclain hammered Tre-Run home and Jeimer Candelario added a solo shot when Cincinnati ripped worth Baltimore in the opener of the series.

Winning Kanna Andrew Abbott (2-0) knocked out 11 strokes in six rounds of one-run ball. The Red stopped a two-game skid and won for the fifth time in the last seven games.

Cedric Mullins and Heston Kjerstad hammered for Orioles, who only succeeded in two other hits. Start Kannan Cade Povich (0-2) lasted in just 3 1/3 rounds and handed over seven runs on six hits.

Yankees 1, beams 0

Trent Grisham delivered a driving single in the second round and four New York jugs combined on a three-hit shutdown of host Tampa Bay.

Carlos Rodon (2-3) allowed two hits with four walks and nine strikes over six rounds. Mark Leiter Jr. And Fernando Cruz each hit an inning before Luke Weaver retired in Rays in order in the ninth for his second rescue.

Paul Goldschmidt had three of Yankee’s five hits for his 10th multi-hit game in the season when New York won their fifth straight match. Tampa Bay lost his fourth straight despite Drew Rasmussen (1-1) giving up only one run of three hits over 5 2/3 rounds.

Blue Jays 3, Mariners 1

Bowden Francis beat six solid inings, right -wing fields Addison Barger had three assists and Toronto defeated the Seattle defeated for his third victory in a row.

Francis (2-2) allowed a run of five hits in six rounds. Jeff Hoffman beat a pure ninth to earn his fifth rescue. Anthony Santander and Alan Roden beat sacrifices for Blue Jays, and Alejandro Kirk added an RBI single.

Former Blue Jay Rowdy Tellez met a solo home run for the sailors, who lost for just the second time in eight matches. Bryan Woo (2-1) allowed three runs on seven hits in seven rounds.

Braves 6, Twins 4

Rookie Pinch Hitter Drake Baldwin broke a tie with a two-run single to meet a five-run eighth-inning rally and lifted Atlanta over the visit Minnesota.

Atlanta has won nine straight matches against Minnesota, a row that started on August 6, 2019. Brave starts Bryce Elder worked five rounds and allowed four runs on six hits. Enyel de Los Santos (1-0) beat 1 2/3 rounds, and Raisel Iglesias handled the ninth for his third rescue.

After 4-1, Braves collected in eighth against Reliever Griffin Jax (0-2) and destroyed a nice effort from the Minnesota starter Chris Paddack. He beat five rounds and allowed a run of three hits. Trevor Larnach met his first Homer of the season for the twins.

Astros 6, parents 4

Rookie Cam Smith clubbed a couple of Homers and drove in four runs when Houston discouraged visiting San Diego in the opener of a three-game Interleague series.

Astros Starter Ryan Gusto (2-1) allowed nine hits and two runs over five rounds. Josh Hader recorded his fifth rescue with a perfect ninth. Houstons Jake Meyers went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Padres starter Kyle Hart (2-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits over five-plus rounds. Luis Arraez collected three hits, including a two-run Homer.

National Rockies, PPD.

Washington’s scheduled match against Colorado was postponed due to bad weather in Denver. The team will form the game as part of a day-night Doubleheader on Sunday.
