Motivated by love and loss, the actor and singer Matthew Croke has released a charity single entitled ‘Mum’. The heartfelt track, which raises money for BB with love, is a moving tribute to Matthew’s late mother and a lighthouse of comfort for anyone who navigates the complex feelings of grief.
For Matthew, ‘mom’ is not just a song but a vessel of healing and reminder. It became a way for him to process the pain of losing his mother. With this edition, Matthew shares the intimate trip with listeners and he hopes it will help others in the same way.
Matthew Croke spoke to us here at Celebmix: “By performing this song for the first time about four years ago, I remember that I felt an immediate connection – not just for myself, but for everyone who listened. It is one of the songs that reaches people in different ways: whether you have lost someone you love, been affected by cancer or simply wanted to say thank you to the person who always stood by your side.
Losing my mom was undoubtedly the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. This song became a way for me to process that pain – it was and is still deeply therapeutic. After we lost her, my family and I started a charity called ‘BB with love’, in her memory. Through sold -out concerts at Sheffield City Hall and countless other collections, we have collected over £ 250,000, and this single will continue to help raise money for many years to come.
I wanted to create something lasting – something that I could hold on to the coming years, and which others could turn to when they need comfort, connection or simply feel less alone. The original version of the song, by Nathan Grisdale, is really beautiful. But I wanted to do it personally – to tell our story. So with Natan’s blessing I changed the lyrics, re -formed the orchestration and arrangement and made it my own tribute to my mother. This song means everything to me. I am extremely proud of it, and I hope it gives others the same sense of love, strength and peace as it has given me. “
‘Mom’ is now here on all digital platforms. The song shows not only Matthew’s vocal ability but also his incredible heart and commitment to make a difference. After the publication, ‘mum’ earns a place in the top ten of iTunes singer printer chart.
From Royal Albert Hall to London Palladium, Matthew’s impressive career has seen him perform at some of the UK’s most prestigious stages. The Sheffield-born star, who played the title character in the West End production of Disney’s Aladdin, also enjoys success abroad and he has a headline show of 54 below in New York next month.
