Players from Liv Golf League now have a qualification path for the open championship, announced R&A Monday.
The leading player in the top five of the Life Golf position at the end of June who are not already exempt will serve a place in the 153rd open championship on July 17-20 at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
“The Open is a global championship for the best men’s golfers, and every year we review our exceptions to ensure that we offer ways to the championship based on results achieved on the leading professional tours,” said Mark Darbon, CEO of R&A, I a statement. “We acknowledge that players who compete in Liv Golf should also be able to secure places outdoors through their individual seasonal position as well as existing roads.”
The selection will happen after life Golf’s tournament in Carrollton, Texas, from June 27-29.

Liv Golf members who are already exempt from the open championship that former big winners include Jon Rahm, Bryson Duchambeau, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka.
R&A’s announcement follows a similar feature that was announced last week for the US Open by the United States Golf Association. As of May 19, the leading golf player in Liv’s three will not otherwise be exempted to get a seat in the tournament June 12-15 at Oakmont (PA.) Country Club.
