Five travel -related cases of Legionnaire’s disease are investigated by Southern Nevada Health District, the agency announced on Thursday.
Two are at South Point, and three others are on the adjacent Grandview in Las Vegas, says the agency in a release.
At South Point, one person stayed on the property in August, while the other stayed in February. Both individuals have since recovered.
At Grandview, one person stayed on the property in February, while the other two stayed in April. All three were hospitalized; Two have since recovered, and one remains in hospital.
After notification of cases, the health district carried out environmental water sampling at the facilities. Several water samples tested positively for the legionella, the bacteria that can cause Legionnaire’s disease, says release.
Legionnire’s disease symptoms usually start within two to 10 days of exposure to the bacteria. However, people should look after symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle pain and headaches for up to two weeks after exposure.
Guests who stayed at South Point on or after April 16, who develop or experience symptoms within 14 days of their stay are urged to conduct a confidential disease examination here. Guests who stayed at Grandview on or after March 27 and who developed or experience symptoms within 14 days of their stay are urged to conduct a confidential disease examination here.
If guests are still symptomatic, they should seek medical attention and warn their medical supplier of the potential exposure.
