Katy Perry is stronger than ever on heartbreak anthem ‘bandaids’

Pop sensation Katy Perry has released her brand new single ‘bandaids’, a powerful mid-tempo ballad about trying to heal from heartbreak.

‘bandaids’ marks Katy’s first single since the release of her 2024 album 143. The song, which came as a surprise to fans as the singer is currently in her midst The Lifetime Tour, was written by Katy along with Kiddo Ibañez, Justin Tranter, Sean Cook, Russ Chell and Eren Cannata.

With a more classic Katy sound, ‘bandaids’ is a relatable track about the breakdown of a relationship. Although the pain has been unbearable and she did everything she could to prevent the relationship from ending, in the end it couldn’t be fixed because putting “band-aids over a broken heart” can only temporarily solve the problem.

Tried all meds
Lowered my expectations
Did all the justifications
Bleeding, bleeding, bleeding slowly
Band-Aid over a broken heart

That said, ‘bandaids’ is a solid anthem that proves Katy is still here and surviving (and thriving in our eyes!). In fact, she admits the pain was worth it and would do it all over again in a heartbeat for what it has given her – her daughter Daisy.

The track comes accompanied by a Final destination inspired image that sees Katy in a number of precarious situations. Directed by Christian Breslauer, the visual sees the singer encounter a number of near-death experiences, including getting her hand stuck in a garbage can, sawing off a branch she’s sitting on, tripping on an escalator and flipping to infamous log car from Final destination 2.

“bandaids” marks the beginning of a new era for Katy, which was hinted towards the end of the video when the singer blows up a gas station playing “Woman’s World”, her previous release. If “bandaids” are anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.

Katy is right now in the middle of her The Lifetime Tour. She recently completed a UK stint after stops in Mexico, the US, Canada, Australia and Brazil. She is currently on the European leg of the tour with dates in Spain to come, before heading out to China, Japan and the United Arab Emirates before the end of the year.

‘bandaids’ is available to download and stream now.
