34 years since he first played Joseph in the 1991 London Palladium production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jason Donovan has revealed that he will be returning to the show to play Pharaoh in the upcoming tour of the much-loved Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical.
Donovan will play the role for one week only at the Mayflower Theater in Southampton from May 13 to 18, 2025.
As previously announced, the current touring production stars Christina Bianco as Narrator and Adam Philip as Joseph, with Hugh Cotton as Reuben, and Will Haswell like Simeon. Joe McElderry will take on the role of pharaoh for select stops on the new tour.
Commenting on his return, the “Too Many Broken Hearts” says: “Joseph will always have a special place in my heart and returning to the show in the new Palladium production and later the UK tour as Pharaoh was an incredible experience. The Southampton crowd was electrifying and I can’t wait to revisit the city later this year when I play my only dates on the 2025 tour. Make sure you don’t miss yours ‘dream’ ticket!”
