Day thirteen at Roland Garros delivered two very different semi -finals, but a clear result: the dream final is on.
Carlos Alcaraz was the first to book his place and recovered from a slow start to take control against Lorenzo Musetti, who was forced to retire early in the fourth set due to a leg injury. The Spanjol was already growing and looked good at the top when the match was called.
Jannik Sinner soon joined the Spanish in Sunday’s championship match with a composed and clinical straight set over Novak Djokovic, which ended Serben’s driving and emphasizes his world no. 1 references.
With the two best seeds developed, Sunday’s final will be the showdown fans hoped for: Sinner vs. Alcaraz for Coupe des Mousquetaires. This is how both the semi -finals played.

Carlos Alcaraz (2) Def Lorenzo Musetti (8) 4-6 7-6 (3) 6-0 2-0 Ret

Carlos Alcaraz advanced to his second Roland Garros final in a row on Friday after Lorenzo Musetti retired in the fourth set of their semi-finals.
Alcaraz led 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, 2-0 when musetti, prevented an upper left leg injury treated at 0-5 in the third set, could no longer continue.
The Spanjole started aggressively, placed inside the baseline and hit with heavy tops from both wings. However, Musetti absorbed the pressure with resilient defense and effectively counteracted Alcaraz’s power.
Although Alcaraz created two breaking point opportunities, Musetti’s consistency allowed him to secure the set and take advantage of Alcaraz’s missed chances. And with Carlos who landed only 41% of First Serves in Set One, most of his problems were self -destroyed.
The second set was a narrow battle, with both players’ trade breaks, but you could feel that Alcaraz began to find his game, and he gained momentum in tiebreak and took it 7-3 to level the match.
From there, his shoulders became freer, and he began to dominate when Musetti faded and lost the set 6-0 and shortly after throwing the towel when he was down 0-2 in the fourth.
Although Musetti took the first set, I thought it was just a winner in this one. Alcaraz started a little hard, and the feeling in his game was not there; He cured some early ramparts with hard hands and barely landed a first serving.
However, there were a couple of points towards the end of the first set that showed that he would dictate the game if he got his action together, and the types of points only increased in frequency in the second set when he took responsibility.
For Musetti, it is the second match at the French Open where he has retired. When you follow the Federer for 15 years, you can’t help but compare him to the gold standard for zero career in the middle of the match. So I never really like it when a player loses, and he seems a little soft.
It’s never good to get through or win a match like this one. Lorenzo is a fantastic player. He has had an incredible clay season. [He is] One of the few players who achieved at least the semi -finals at all the biggest events on Clay. I think only four players had done it before … I always wish him all the best, a speedy recovery, and hopefully we will enjoy his tennis pretty soon. The first two sets were really tough. I had chances to break his serve in the match. I couldn’t get the most out of them. He played good tennis. When I won the second set there was some relief, and then in the third set I knew what I had to do in the beginning: just push him to the limit and try to be aggressive. Don’t let him dominate the game anymore and just be myself. I was calmer. I could look clearer and could play good tennis at the beginning of the third set. Alcaraz on his win.
I’m sorry and disappointed with how it ended, but it was still a good match. I felt at the beginning of the third when I served, I started to lose some strength on my left leg behind myself and definitely got worse and worse, so I decided to quit. I think it was the right decision to make, even if that was not what I wanted. Tomorrow I will do exams, and of course I will see and evaluate the situation. I think we both started really, really good and hit the ball really well. Of course, I had to play my best level in the tournament to stay there with him. I felt honest today that I was moving forward at my level. I felt closer to his level. I maintained the high level we showed for two hours or whatever. So [I’m] Really really happy about it. It is a step forward because the last two matches were a bit one way. I felt that today I had my chances to even try to go two sets, but of course Carlos, he plays really well. He is in really good shape. He deserves to go to the final. Musetti on the loss.Match statistics

Jannik Sinner (1) Def Novak Djokovic (6) 6-4 7-5 7-6 (3)

Jannik Sinner turned out too much for Novak Djokovic on Friday night, as the world no. 1 secured a 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory in his semi-finals.
Satsing Markets had sinners who came in with an 80% chance of winning, and even if you can never write Novak, it turned out to be correct when Sinner’s Baseline Power and serves precision overwhelmed the three times the champion.
Despite some typical shine from Djokovic, he could not counteract the Sinner’s exact game.
However, he made fashion mining points for the first time in 40 Sinner Servic game (since Davis Cup 2023), just to waste the three points of 5-4 in the third set, which allows Sinner to close the match in a Tiebreak.
Sinner dominated early and broke the fifth match in the first set with sharp returns and released only three points on the service.
I thought Novak started well in the first games, but the sinner began to come on top of him, and the dropshot he used effectively against Zverev in the quarter finals failed to disturb the sinner’s rhythm.
The problem with that shot is that you have to beat them when you have good court and sound foot. Novak beat them as a goat-out shot, which will not give +Ev for him.
In the second set, Djokovic shone in a 26-shot rally, but the sinner held and overcame a missed chance to earn at 5-4 to win the set.
Despite a medical timeout for an upper leg issue before the third set, Djokovic fought hard back in the third, but the sinner’s calm and a Djoko-Smash in Tiebreak sealed the victory in 3 hours and 17 minutes.
It was such a special opportunity for me and played against Novak in the semi -finals in a Grand Slam. It’s just amazing, and I had to get up and play the best tennis I could. I am very pleased with how I handled the situation, but this again shows what role model he is for all of us and especially for us young players. What he does is incredible and I wish him just the best for the rest of the season. I think we are all very lucky to see him play so high -level tennis, it’s fantastic. [Novak] achieved so many things. He is the best player in the story of our sport and plays against him here is fantastic. Of course, I try not to think about this, but before you go to court you feel the excitement and feel what comes to you. I always try to prepare myself in the best possible way and prepare myself for every situation on the court. I am very happy how we did it today and of course Sunday will be very difficult. Of course, my head-to-head doesn’t look good to Carlos, so let’s see what I can do. I am very happy to be here in the final. Sinners on their winnings.
