French Open 2025 Day Seven Recap

Business End of the French Open is approaching quickly, and Day Seven served a relatively simple party of matches, with just one meeting that goes more than three sets.

Jannik Sinner delivered today’s performance with a clinical dismantling of Jiri Lehecka, while Novak Djokovic quietly took up his 99th victory at Roland Garros.

Jack Draper continued to shine and brushed aside João Fonseca with ease, and Alexander Zverev looked sharp towards Flavio Cobbolli.

With a draw decrease, the intensity increases, and as we enter the second week, the efforts continue to rise.

Here is a look at all key results and performances from Saturday’s third round in Paris.

Jannik Sinner (1) Def Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2

Jannik Sinner delivered a leading performance at Roland Garros on Saturday and dismantled Jiri Lehecka in just 94 minutes to secure his place in the fourth round.

Sinner was in one of the moods where he is practically motionless, and he only lost 3 matches on his way to a 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 victory.

I had sinners who came through straight, but thought that Lehecka could at least force a tie break in one of the sets, because his serving is decent.

But he came down to even achieve it. Only reckless precision from Sinner from Ball One, and Lehecka could not do anything to take him out of his comfort zone.

Then Sinner is facing Andrey Rublev, who received a walkover due to Arthur Fil’s withdrawal. I am hard pressed to see how rubled can disturb the sinner, because you will not hit him by just hitting hard.

I played really well. Especially for two and a half sets, then he served very well, very brave. He did some good serving and Voller. But I am very happy. Simone [Vagnozzi]My coach, had his birthday yesterday, and usually when he has his birthday I don’t play well. So this win is for him. Sinners on their winnings.

Alexander Zverev (3) Def Flavio Cobolli 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-1

Alexander Zverev drove into Roland Garro’s fourth round for the eighth year in a row and defeated Flavio Cobbolli 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-1 on the Court Philippe Chatrier.

Cobolli has had a mixed season where he has gone on some terrible lost runs, just to find form and win some big matches, which culminated with the Hamburg title last week.

Zverev has also had a bit of a mountain and roller coaster, but he was a class above today and mixed powerful baseline games with his strong serving.

He never looked really worried apart from the second set where Cobolli broke his service to lead 4-2, but Zverev responded and leveled the set of 6-6 with an ace and secured Tiebreak 7-4.

I thought Cobolli played too much in straight lines to throw Zverev from his rhythm, and he entered the metronomic type he loves, especially on the backhand.

Then, Zverev Tallon meets Griekspoor, who fought past the American qualifier Ethan Quinn 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-4.

This court is very special to me. I had some of the best memories of my life on this court, but I also had some of the worst memories of this court. It is a love story that has not come to Happy End yet, but I hope that one day will. Zverev at French Open.

Jack Draper (5) Def Joao Fonseca 6-2 6-4 6-2

Jack Draper gave João Fonseca a schooling in his match and sent the Brazilian 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 on the Suzanne-Lenglen court to reach the fourth round in Paris for the first time.

Fonseca carries around a lot of hype, so many fans thought he would test drapes significantly today, or even beat him.

The British, however, had other ideas and dominated procedures with his heavy left advance, and he exceeded Fonseca with a varied display of spins, power and some smart drip shots.

Fonseca’s game is to crush the forever as hard as he can basically every shot. But there is more in the game than that.

It may sound critical, but there must be some balance to tone down hype 😁. I think Fonseca has plenty of upside, but how his fans and some of the media treat him, you would think he was the favorite of all the events he entered.

Draper is now facing Alexander Bublic, who advanced past Henrique Rocha 7-5, 6-1, 6-2. If he serves as he did today, where he won 93% of his first serving, he is sure to be in the quarter finals.

I played well. The conditions were quite difficult out here. I felt the first set was really key. Then I came on top of him, used my forehand well, served well and mentally it was a good performance from me and I am happy to be the other week here. In my first two rounds I played at night and played against Gael [Monfils] The other night I didn’t feel I could hit the ball past him. The guy is so fast and it was so cold. But today the ball stood up more and the faster conditions help me more. Drapes on their winnings.

Novak Djokovic (6) Def Filip Misolic (Q) 6-3 6-4 6-2

Novak Djokovic defeated the Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 on the Court Philippe Chatrier during the night session to hack up his 99th victory at Roland Garros.

When it comes to matches from the third round of Grand Slams, you cannot ask for better than Misolic and Novak comfortably checked the two -hour, nine -minute match by redirecting Misolic’s pace and stepping into court to dominate key moments.

From a total decline earlier this year, Djoker will not yet release a set of Paris, and he has built some solid speed after his Geneva title.

He then faces the British left Cameron Norrie, who defeated Jacob Fearnley 6-3, 7-6 (1), 6-2 to reach his first Roland Garro’s fourth round.

I thought Fearnley can win it, but Norrie has a lot of experience, and he is always a game for a battle. He pushed Novak hard last week in Geneva, so I expect the sets on Monday to be relatively close.
