Jannik Sinner continued his strong start with a straight victory over Richard Gasquet in what was the Frenchman’s last match at the tournament.
Alexander Zverev lost the opening set before finding his level, while Arthur Fils fought through injury and a complete fourth set of collapse to Edge Jaume Munar at five.
The biggest surprise came from Alexander Bublic, who came back from two sets to knock out ninth seed Alex de Minaur.
There was also a collapse from Jakub Mensik, which let a two-set leading slide against the qualifying Henrique Rocha.
Here is a complete look at all key results and performances from day five.

Daily summary

Jannik Sinner Def. Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-0, 6-4
Jannik Sinner decisively ended Richard Gasquet’s career at Roland Garros on Thursday and defeated the Frenchman 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 to move on to the third round.
In his 22nd Roland Garros look, 38-year-old Gasquet could not match Sinner’s powerful ground stocks and exact shooting in an hour, 58-minute match.
Gasquet’s only real success came 3-5 in the first set when he created three break points when Sinner served the set, but he could not convert and could not see another chance at the Italian serving.
Sinner is now facing Jiri Lehecka in the third round after the Czech advanced by defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Lehecka can compete, but he is not the most resilient physically so I’m not sure I see him being able to live with sinners.
Arthur Fils Def Jaume Munar 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), 2-6, 0-6, 6-4
In a dramatic five-set Epos, Arthur fought Fils, driven by a passionate French crowd, through an assumed back injury to defeat Jaume Munar.
The French No. 1 took the first two sets via tight tie-breaks, but a third set of injury left him fighting. Down a break in the fifth set and barely mobile, files released ultra-aggressive play to pass a four-hour, 25-minute victory.
Was it a back injury or simply a cramp from which he recovered? Because in the fifth set he moved without any problems.
I have a hard time watching files at the best times, and when you connect him with a French audience that can be quite annoying it is a difficult clock.
Munar did not manage so well either; The atmosphere came to him, and he released files of the hook.
Alexander Zverv defends Jesper Jesper The Boy 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3
Third seed Alexander Zverev overcame an early setback to defeat Jesper de Jong in four sets on the Court Simonne-Mathieu.
After losing the first set, Zverev found his rhythm, hit 43 winners and broke served seven times in a three hour match.
I did not have high expectations for Zverev, and although it is still very early in the tournament, he has played decent so far. Flavio Cobolli Next.
Alexander Bublik Def Alex de Minaur 2-6, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2
Today’s shock upset saw Alexander Bublic scene a fantastic comeback from two sets to defeat the ninth seed Alex de Minaur.
While none of the players are known for their Clay Court Exploes, they are difficult to turn on all surfaces, and when he conveniently took the two opening sets, it would have believed that Bublik had the opportunity to find a way back.
However, Bublic has its best season on the surface, and when Aussie’s first serving did not land with any regularity, he took control.
Bublik will next meet Portugal Henrique Rocha, which is very winning and making the fourth round at Roland Garros is not something you would have predicted.
Henrique Rocha Def Jakub Fonds 2-6, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3
The qualification Henrique Rocha collected from two sets to defeat Jakub Mensik and joined the compatriot Nuno Borges in Roland Garro’s third round.
I had mensik to do the quarter final here, but we have seen several times in his young career that 2-set leads are not a guarantee, and he already has 3 or 4 losses in the Grand Slams after being comfortable forward.
Novak Djokovic Def Corentin Mouse 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (1)
Novak Djokovic defeated Corentin Moutet to move on to the third round. Played at the Suzanne-Lenglen Court, the Moutet’s cunning drip shot and versatile games tested Djokovic, but the Frenchman could not capitalize, with Novak who saved a critical stock market value in the third set to secure a three-hour, five minute victory.
Serbian has an impressive record against French players, and so far in Paris he sees in pretty good shape. Four -three winners today and 73% behind his first serving, so I like his chances to make the latter stages.
Mentally, I had to keep myself concentrated and prepared for such a match. Corentin is a player who has a great speed, it was a great battle, especially the third set. I saved a stock market value … At that moment everything is possible. I found a shot to stay in the set, a good service. I think I generally played well, I managed to keep calm on court, which was not easy sometimes. Novak on its winnings.
Jack Draper Def Gael Monfils 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
Jack Draper came victorious against Gael Monfils in a four-set match on the Court Philippe Chatrier.
As you can expect, the fifth seed met a rough French crowd and an resilient monks, which saved an astonishing 11 break point in the fourth set alone.
Although he beat 2-5 in the fourth and in front of two stock exchange values Draper showed his Mettle to break back and take advantage of Monfil’s fatigue.
This victory marks Draper’s first Roland Garro’s third round of appearance and means that there are three British in the third round for the first time since 1968. Who will go the longest?
