Three times the WNBA champion Natasha Howard returns to Indiana Fever, the team that chose her with the fifth overall choice of the WNBA draft 2014.
On Friday, she published a Throwback photo of Draft Night on her account with the caption, “Back to where all my dreams became a reality.”
The 6-foot-2 Howard played its first two WNBA seasons under Stephanie White, which has also returned to the franchise as head coach. Howard later played for Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, New York Liberty and Dallas Wings.
The twice All-Star, who also won the league’s defensive player for the year 2019, won its WNBA titles with Lynx (2017) and Storm (2018, 2020).
The 33-year-old Howard will bring a veteran presence to a team containing Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, taken by the fever with the total election # 1 in consecutive seasons.
Howard, one forward, was an average of 17.6 points, 6.7 returns and 2.9 assists per match in 27 competitions (26 starts) last season. These figures were higher across the line than her career average of 11.5 points, 5.6 returns and 1.5 assists per match.
The fever will count on Howard to help them improve their 20-20 record for regular season, which was followed by a first round playoffs.
WNBA free agents can sign contracts from Saturday.
