San Jose Earthquake’s Standout Midfielder Hernan Lopez underwent right shoulder operation on Friday and is expected to miss three to four months.
Lopez, 24, has not done in two matches this season after having six goals and two assists in 24 MLS matches (22 starts) in 2024.
San Jose acquired Lopez 11 months ago from the Argentine club Godoy Cruz for a club record $ 6 million transfer fee. The earthquakes then signed him through the 2026 season with alternatives for 2027-28.
Lopez scored seven goals for Godoy Cruz and counted a total of 12 with seven assists for three different Argentine clubs between 2019-24.
San Jose (2-1-0, 6 points) hosts Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
