After years of quietly honing his sound, Cruz Beckham finally ready to make some noise. Youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham has confirmed that his highly anticipated new single is on the way – marking the official relaunch of his music career.
The 20-year-old aspiring singer/songwriter first dipped her toes into the pop world in 2016 with “If Every Day Was Christmas”a charity track released when he was just 11. The single raised money for Globals make some noise and provided an early glimpse of his voice – but it was more of a childhood moment than a career move.
Nearly a decade later, Beckham is preparing to launch what many consider to be his “real” musical debut, with the release of two new tracks ‘OPTICS’ and “lick the toad”this friday!
Announcing the news to followers online, Cruz shared the singles artwork along with a 45 second clip of a song and captioned the post: “OPTICS and LICK THE TOAD double single out this Friday October 24th. Save in theaters.”
News of the single release comes just a week after Cruz, along with this band (rumored to be called Waste your pain), supported Welsh indie rock outfit The Royston Club on several dates during their UK and European tour.
Rumors have been rife for quite some time now that Cruz’s sound will draw heavily from classic British influences – go figure Oasis, The Beatles, and The Kooks. That last name is no accident: The band’s Luke Pritchard reportedly mentored Beckham in songwriting and production, guiding him toward a more guitar-driven, organic sound.
Speaking to The Sun earlier this year, Pritchard said: “We started writing songs together and we’ve become mates. I’d just love to help him navigate a career in music. He’s obviously going to get criticism because of who his parents are, but he’s aware of that – I actually thought it was great when he said”Jesus was a nepo baby too!’ What a funny answer.”
