Duke star Cooper Flagg and Auburn-Standout Johni Broome are among the five finalists for wooden prices and part of the 10-star team, Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Tuesday evening.
Floridas Walter Clayton Jr., Alabamas Mark Sears and Purdue’s Braden Smith round off the finalists.
Flags, Broome and Clayton are on teams that reached the NCAA tournament’s Final Four. The wood prize winner will be announced Saturday at Final Four in San Antonio.
Flag, a beginner who turned 18 December 21, an average of 18.9 points, 7.5 returns and 4.2 assists for Blue Devils. He was the Atlantic Conference player of the year.
Broome, a fifth-year senior who began his career in Morehead State, an average of 18.7 points and 10.9 returns and won the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year awards.
Smith was this year’s Big Ten Player and an average of 15.8 points and 8.7 assists. Clayton is an average of 18.1 points and 4.2 assists and Sears were an average of 18.6 points and 5.1 returns.
Rounding of the All -American squad of wood is Houston’s LJ Cryer, Marquettes Kam Jones, Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner, Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier and Wisconsin’s John Tonje.
