Cincinnati Open 2025 Round 2 Recap

Day two in Cincinnati put in the opening round, and it was a strong show for the American contingent.

Both guys have torn up the Challenger circuit this year, but Coric, ranked as no. 92, could not replicate his 2022 Cincy Magic, where he stunned Nadal on his way to the title. Nava now meets fourth seed Taylor Fritz in an All-American collision, which beats 0-1 in its main-head.

Teacher Tien Def. Leandro Diludi, 6-3, 6-4

The teacher Tien sent the qualifier Leandro Riedi 6-3, 6-4 in a compound 90-minute performance. The 19-year-old saved all six break points.

Nishash Basavarddy Def. Aleksandar Vukic, 7-6 (5), 7-5

Nishesh Basavarddy noted its first ATP Masters 1000 victory and edged Lucky Loser Aleksandar Vukic 7-6 (5), 7-5 in a narrow Cincinnati opener.

The American had been planned to meet Gael Monfils, who went late in the day, but he quickly adapted his baseline consistency, which turned out to be crucial in two tight sets.

Basavarddy is facing the third seed Alexander Zverev next in their first meeting with head-to-head.

Jenson Brooksby fought past Alexandre Muller 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-1. Brooksby’s aggressive game in the decisive overwhelmed Muller, with the American’s nine winners in the third set that proved crucial, while 9 matches double errors did not help the Frenchman’s cause.
