Carlos Alcaraz Def. Luca Nardi, 6-1, 6-4

Carlos Alcaraz stormed into the Cincinnati Open Quarter final with a 6-1, 6-4 route by Lucky Loser Luca Nardi.

Alcaraz had not too impressed in his opening matches, but this was his best so far, made a quick start and then recovered 2-4 in the second set to take control. The span is next to Andrey Rublev.

I think this match was the best so far for me in this tournament. At the beginning of the tournament, I just wanted to get better every day, after each exercise and every match. I think I do, which I am really proud of. I’m just really happy with how I felt the ball today and how I moved. Alcaraz on his win.

Jannik Sinner Def. Adrian Mannarino, 6-4, 7-6 (4)

Jannik Sinner kept his bid to defend the title by defeating the qualifying qualifier Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 7-6 (4) to reach the quarter finals.

Mannarino always gives opponents something to think about, and together with his cunning game tested, also seals by a two-hour, 45-minute rain delay.

But it is now 4-0 in H2H and Sinner’s ball striking is too solid, with the only real spot yesterday when he failed to serve the match at 6-5.

He is a very tough opponent. Very different from other opponents, not just because he is a left but how he hits the ball. It is very low. I was just trying to earn well and tried to see what I could do in return games. He earned very well, especially on the ad side, on the wide was very accurate. I changed the position and tried to make him feel uncomfortable. I struggled a bit to close it, but it can happen in this sport and I am very happy to be in the next round. Sinners on their winnings.

Alexander Zverev Def. Karen Khachanov, 7-5, 3-0 (Ret.)

Alexander Zverev advanced when the 14th Frö Karen Khachanov retired at 7-5, 3-0 after 70 minutes, hindered by unclear injury.

The 2021 champion, who avenged his Toronto semi-final loss to Khachanov, broke late in the first set and dominated early in the second before the stop.

Sascha has earned excellent so far and again won 80% behind his first serving, and he will have to keep it up against Shelton or Lehecka in the quarter final.

Terence Atmane Def. Taylor Fritz, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3

Qualifier Terence Atmane shocked fourth seed Taylor Fritz 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to reach its first ATP champion 1000 quarter finals.

The Frenchman fired 13 ESS and won 82% of the score first serving, and despite his non-existent record on tour this season, he has run through Nishioca, Cobolli and Fonseca when he looks to replicate a Borna Coric-type tournament from 2022.
