The cast has been announced to the British premiere of genre-defending musical Ride on the cyclone, which opens at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in November.
Edward Wu will play as the fantastic Karnak, with Baylie Carson as Ocean, Grace Galloway as Jane Dow, Robyn Gilbertson as Constance, Damon Gould as Noel, Bartek Kraszewski as Mischa and Jack Maverick as Ricky. The rollist is terminated by Understudies Nathaniel Purnell and Rebecca D’Acey.
Written by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell follow the show six teens killed in a freak mountain -and -dal accident. Caught in Limbo they are offered another chance in life, so one by one they have to convince an enigmatic figure that they are the most deserving of a second chance.
Ride on the cyclone Premiere at Atomic Vaudeville in British Columbia in 2008 before making his American debut at Chicagos Shakespeare Theater 2015. It later transferred outside Broadway to Lucille Lortel Theater 2016. Since then the show has been given a cult behind with further productions in cities including Seattle, Minneap, Atlant, Atlanta, Atlantic, Minneapolis
The authors Richmond and Maxwell said: “We are beyond pleased that a musical, who started in the basement in a Ukrainian church in Victoria, Canada, has finally found its way to London, England, this fall! The exceptional team gathered for this production is really remarkable, and we can not experience that British audience should be expected that Ride on the cyclone! “
Production will be led and choreographed by Lizzi Gee, with a musical direction by Ben Mcquigg. Additional creative includes: Set and costume design by Ryan Dawson Laight, Lighting Design by Tim Deiling, Video design by Nina Dunn for Pixellux, audio design by Tom Marshall and casting by Harry Blumenau. Production management is done by Toby P Darvill for the production solution group, with general management of Jack Maple Productions.
