K-Pop royalty BTS have announced the title of their highly anticipated fifth full-length album: ARIRANG.
Named after the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang”, the album title is based on a piece of music that has transcended time and generations across the world. Full of symbolism, the song itself has long been associated with feelings of connection, distance and reunion.
It’s clear that the new album will be a deeply reflective work that explores BTS’s identity and roots. Known for the authenticity of the stories they tell through their music, BTS presents an album shaped by stories that only BTS could tell.
Drawing on the emotional depth of ‘Arirang’, its sense of yearning, longing and the ebb and flow of life, the band ultimately chose the title for its strong resonance with their current journey. The new edition explores universal feelings of longing and love and will resonate with global audiences as a timeless legacy across generations and cultures.
ARIRANG will be released on March 20 and is expected to be deeply personal yet universally relatable. One of the most anticipated album releases of the year, digital billboards have been spotted for the band’s comeback worldwide, including New York, Tokyo, London and Paris.
Earlier this week, BTS broke the internet with the release of their world tour dates. With 79 shows in 34 regions, the band will visit Asia, North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and more.
The tour will feature a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design, creating an immersive setup that puts the audience at the center of the experience while allowing for increased capacity at each venue. With the upcoming world tour, BTS is set to achieve the highest number of tour dates and the widest regional reach for a South Korean artist.
