A Las Vegas-based casino operator is selling one of its off-market properties.
Boyd Gaming Corp. has sold Sam’s Town casino in Shreveport, Louisiana to Bally’s Corp. for an undisclosed amount, the two companies announced Thursday.
Sam’s Town Shreveport has a 29,000 square foot casino floor and 514 hotel rooms. It is located directly adjacent to Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel.
Soo Kim, executive chairman of Bally’s, said the company already has a familiarity with the Shreveport market and understands the customer base.
“The acquisition of Sam’s Town Shreveport reflects our confidence in the community and our long-term commitment to growing our presence here,” Kim said in a statement. “We see meaningful opportunities to reinvest in the market and further strengthen Shreveport’s position as a premier gaming and entertainment destination.”
Kim said a “broader vision and plans for the property and market” would be shared in the “near future.”
Bally’s currently has a handful of projects either underway or in the planning stages across the country. The Rhode Island-based operator holds the rights to the developable land where the Tropicana Las Vegas once stood, part of which is being used for the construction of the A’s baseball stadium. Bally’s is currently building a casino in Chicago and was recently awarded a gaming license in New York to operate a yet-to-be-designed casino in The Bronx.
The acquisition of Sam’s Town increases Bally’s domestic casino portfolio to include 19 properties in 11 states.
Boyd, who celebrated his 50th anniversary in 2025, has also been active recently. In March, Boyd acquired Resorts Digital, the online gaming division of Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel. In July, the company sold its 5 percent stake in Flutter Entertainment plc, the parent company of FanDuel Group, for $1.75 billion.
The company plans to open the Cadence Crossing casino next month. The Henderson property is Boyd’s first new casino to open in more than 20 years.
“The sale of our Sam’s Town Shreveport property is consistent with our continued focus on refining our operating model and our nationwide real estate portfolio,” Keith Smith, president and CEO of Boyd Gaming, said in a statement. “Sam’s Town Shreveport has been a part of our company since 2004, and we appreciate all the contributions of its team members, past and present, in providing great service to our guests over the past two decades.”
The sale of Sam’s Town Shreveport is expected to close in the third quarter, pending regulatory approval.
