Like Disney’s Hercules continues its triumphant run at the Theater Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End, the production extends its life beyond the stage with the release of the Original London Cast Recording on vinyl, CD and digital platforms. Adding a new dimension to the score, one of the show’s most beloved numbers, “Great Bolts of Thunder”will also be released as a standalone single, reimagined in a remix by the legendary electronic music duo Jaxx in the basement.
Considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential dance acts of the past three decades, Basement Jaxx has shaped the sound of global club culture with era-defining hits such as “Red Alert” and “Where’s Your Head”. Their newly commissioned remix of “Great Bolts of Thunder” injecting the song with fresh momentum and modern edge, while keeping the power of the vocal performance at its core. The result is a version that allows The Muses to move effortlessly between the theater and the late night dance floor.

Hercules the Musical – West End Teaser Trailer
Last year, Disney Theatrical Group released in collaboration with Disney Music Group/Walt Disney Records HerculesOriginal London Cast Recording on vinyl, CD and digital platforms. The album collects the much-loved songs from the 1997 animated film – inclusive “Go the Distance”, “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)” – along with a collection of newly written numbers created especially for the stage musical by Alan Menken (music) and David Zippel (text).
Commenting on the new surprise collaboration with Basement Jaxx, Alan says: “We were so excited to hear that DJ royalty Basement Jaxx were on board to remix ‘Great Bolts of Thunder’. The song has been a favorite in our new musical, Hercules, and it’s great to see it take on new life with this remix.
With David adding: “We loved writing the new songs for the musical, and this remix brings a whole new energy to “Great Bolts of Thunder”. We are excited that the song will be given a new life on the dance floor!”
