As Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 develops, one of the most striking records this season is “La baby ”a solo show of the award-winning actor and comedian Ambrosin Davies – Now run at Zoo Playground until August 24.
Davies is known for his work with “Funny or die” and “The Inbetweeners” and deals with sitcom line lines for pitch-black honesty in this autobiographical work and talks about her nine upcoming year in Los Angeles. What begins as a pursuit of comedy and acting spirals into a chilly story of emotional abuse, persecution and survival, all delivered with biting width and brutal clarity.

From a babysitter in the heart of a high-profile Orthodox divorce to dealing with a narcissistic manager and an increasingly violent home life, “La Baby” is more than just a precautionary story-it is a high thread that balances sadness, humor and unfiltered truth. Davies transforms trauma into theater catarsis and uses gallows humor as both shield and sword.
“La Baby” stands out on this year’s lashing radar for its unclear comment about cycles of abuse, emotional resilience and the hidden costs of chasing the “American dream”. With Davie’s extensive comedy training (groundlings, UCB, AADA) and awards on writing and performance, this is not just a personal bill – it is a masterclass in vulnerability on stage.
The audience can catch LA Baby at Zoo Playground – Playground 2, daily at 15:35 (except August 12 and 19). The show runs 60 minutes and is suitable for ages 16+, with strong content warnings to worry themes and language.
