Toronto Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero JR have agreed to a 14-year-old, $ 500 million contract extension, several media reported on Sunday.
The deal reportedly includes no deferred money, which makes it the second highest contract in the present value in Majors, only surpassed Juan Soto’s 15-year-old, $ 765 million agreement reached in December.
Guerrero, a four-o’clock All-Star and the MVP runner in 2021, would be a free agent at the end of the season. By unlocking him now, Toronto avoids the risk of entering a massive bid war in the open market.
For his career, the 26-year-old has 160 home shopping, 511 RBI and a .287 Slag average in 829 matches. Last season he met 30 home and drove in 103 RBI with a .323/.396/.544 Batting line.
In ten matches this season, Guerrero beats .256 without home four RBI.
