JT Toppin shines like No. 12 Texas Tech Dispatches Oklahoma State

JT Toppin poured into 32 points and took 12 returns when Texas Tech # 12 rolled to a victory 93-55 over Reeling Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, Okla.

The Red Raiders (20-5, 11-3 Big 12) led by 19 points after a dominant first half and never let up and opened the second half with an 8-0 driving. Texas Tech stretched his lead to 36 points by 4:50 to play on Toppin’s final shot and cruised to the finish line.

Texas Tech won his second straight match, ninth of the last 10 and swept the season series with Oklahoma State.

Toppin has received a combined 94 points in Tech’s last three matches. Christian Anderson made 16 points for the Red Raiders, Kevin Overton had 13, Elijah Hawkins added 11 while Chance McMillian met for 10.

Texas Tech surpassed Oklahoma State from the field, 48.4 percent to 37.3 percent, forged a 40-29 edge on the glass and got 21 points out of 14 turnover for the cowboys. Red Raider shot 43.2 percent (16 out of 37) beyond the arch and registered 23 assists on 30 manufactured baskets.

Marchelus Avery’s 13 points led Cowboys (12-13, 4-10) in the loss, their second straight and third in the last four matches.

The Red Raiders took responsibility early and built a 12-5 lead after a couple of free throw by McMillian at the first half 14:44. Oklahoma State paired her deficit to three points before Texas Tech rolled off an 8-0 run that was completed by Back-to-back 3-points from Anderson for a 20-9 advantage with 12:11 to play during the first half.
