Fresh off a whirlwind year that has seen her emerge as one of Britain’s most talked about new singing talents, Sydnie Christmas returns with his new single, “Lean Towards You”released today via Westway music.
The uplifting pop song serves as the second taste of Christmas’ upcoming second studio album and finds the singer-songwriter leaning into themes of trust, vulnerability and emotional healing. Co-written with hit makers Paul Meehan (One Direction, Little Mix) and Kjetil Morland (James Morrison, Rebecca Ferguson), “Lean Towards You” mixes warm, contemporary pop influences reminiscent of Olivia Dean and Sienna Spiro with the powerful song of Christmas.
At its heart, the song is a celebration of finding a relationship built on genuine support – and learning to let someone in after years of carrying life’s burdens alone.
““Lean Towards You” is a very personal song for me,” says Sydnie. “I wrote this song when my partner asked me to share my stress. “A problem shared is a problem halved”, he said.”
The singer explains that she has long been someone who tends to internalize pressure and push forward regardless of the challenges she faces. A conversation with her partner changed that perspective.
“One day he said: “Babe, I’m here to carry your hard times with you – lean on me,”” she recalls. “I was so overwhelmed with relief. I was in a supportive, loving relationship where I felt truly seen – something I had never experienced before.”
That realization became the catalyst for the song.
“Suddenly, all the broken hearts from my past were forgotten,” she further explains. “I had found my home and just had to learn to settle there and lean into him. The next day, “Lean Towards You” was written, and from that moment the rest was history.”
The single includes a sun-soaked music video filmed in Ibiza, which premieres on YouTube at 6pm today. The visual captures the feel-good spirit of the song, celebrating love, connection and the freedom that comes with finding someone you can trust.
The release comes in the middle of a busy period before Christmas. Earlier this year, she performed during the semi-finals of the Britain’s Got Talent alongside Great Ormond Street Hospital Choirand she recently announced a trio of US summer dates in New York and Philadelphia as she continues to expand her international profile.
With “Lean Towards You”Christmas offers a heartwarming reminder that strength isn’t always about carrying it all yourself—sometimes it’s about letting someone else help shoulder the weight.
