Ricky Wilson To Play Teen Angel In Secret Cinema’s Smash Hit Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical

Secret cinema has revealed it Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson will join the cast Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical this summer he takes on the role of Teen Angel in selected performances.

Wilson joins a cast led by Stephanie Costi and Lucy Penrosewho return as Sandy and Rizzo, respectively, after originating the roles in the production’s sold-out run in 2025. They will be joined by Georgios Michaelides like Danny and Archangel Ciulla like Kenickie. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Speaking about his cast, Wilson joked: “At school I went Fat and I feel like I have to redeem myself. I wasn’t yet the international pop sensation I am today and I only wanted to do it because I liked the girl who played Frenchie (I was Doody) so this is my chance to show everyone that I should have been given a bigger role.”

“I don’t think anyone from that production is now a professional singer, so in short, I win.”

Secret Cinema’s immersive adaptation of the beloved film returns to London after a critically acclaimed and sold-out run last year. Audiences will once again be transported to Rydell High, with the production combining live performance, immersive storytelling and the iconic soundtrack from the hit movie musical.

Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical will run at Evolution London in Battersea Park from July 22 to September 13 for a strictly limited engagement.

Running for two hours and 15 minutes, the fully immersive experience invites audiences back into the world of Rydell High, bringing the beloved 1978 film to life through live performance, immersive storytelling and some of its most iconic musical numbers.

From “Summer Nights” and “Greased Lightnin'” to “Beauty School Dropout” – performed by Ricky – and the finale “We Walk Together”each song from the film is featured, performed by a live band and played against a multi-screen backdrop.

The experience begins long before the main action unfolds. Audience members are free to explore a recreation of the film’s locations, including the Frosty Palace, Autoshop and Carnival, while interacting with characters from the world Fat. Visitors can participate in activities ranging from driving practice and pepper to sports training sessions led by Coach Calhoun, as well as sample American diner-inspired food and drinks.

The production is directed by Matthew Costainwith scenography by Tom Rogerschoreography by Jennifer Weberlighting design by Howard Hudsonsound design by Gareth Fry and video design by Ian William Galloway.

Following strong demand during the grand opening, the 2026 season will expand its themed Roam and Return seating options, allowing audiences to move freely through the immersive environment before returning to reserved seats in areas such as the Frosty Diner and Drive-In.
