Calling all wildcats! The full cast for the upcoming revival of High School Musical, which will take place in Salford and London, has been announced.
Already in March it was confirmed that Tobias Turley (Oh mom!) and Leonor Correia (Six) would lead the roles of Troy and Gabriella, alongside Caitlin Tipping and Luke Bayer, who currently star in titanic the musical, as brother and sister duo Sharpay and Ryan.
It was later revealed that 80s icon Jason Donovan will take on the role of Coach Bolton for the Lowry, Manchester race, while McFly drummer Harry Judd will take the reins for the London leg. If that wasn’t exciting enough, original High School Musical legend Kaycee Stroh (best known as pop’n’lock queen Martha) will play Ms. Darbus in both locations.
Now the entire group of Wildcats has finally been revealed. Joining the team are Char Burnett as Taylor McKessie, Jordan Benjamin as Chad Danforth, Simeon Beckett as Zeke Baylor, Olivia O’Connor as Martha Cox, Yna Tresvalles as Kelsi Nielson and Curtis Patrick as Jack Scott.
The cast is completed by Alexander Black, Eleanor Bye, Harriet Caplan-Dean, Alison Driver, Conor Luke Drury, Mary Francis, Sonia Gil-Lubeiro, Tamsin January, Joseph Lennox, Lucas Morlotti, Katie Mulligan, André Phipps, Meg Silsby, Kade Stenson, Ethan Vijn and Eddie Zickerman.
The High School Musical the revival marks 20 years since the film’s original release and will be the first UK non-replica production of the Disney Channel original film. High School Musical features a book by David Simpatico with music arranged, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle. The production will be directed by Hope Mills founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton.
The creative team also includes choreography by Aaron Renfree, set design by Andrew Exeter, sound design by Matt Peploe, video design by George Reeve, lighting design by Rory Beaton, costume design by Sophia Pardon, musical direction by Katy Richardson, musical direction by Audra Cramer, casting by Pearson Casting, production management by Chris Harper, Product Management and Ammonite Studios.
High School Musical opens at The Lowry Theatre, Salford on 22nd August and runs until 19th September. It will then transfer to London’s Troubadour Wembley Park Theater from 12 October, with performances running until 3 January 2027.
Both theaters are reconfigured for the performances to create the ultimate East High experience. This will include an immersive basketball court environment and stage seating. Fans can expect to hear all the classics from the original film, including “We’re All In This Together”, “Breaking Free” and “Stick To The Status Quo”.
