MGM Resorts International on Wednesday is introducing a two-night all-inclusive stay package for two guests at Luxor and Excalibur that will combine accommodations, including resort fee, three meals a day, a show, parking fees and roller coaster ride.
The new package is believed to be the first all-inclusive deal ever offered at a Strip resort. The first date it is available is April 6th.
The package will cost $330 plus VAT and is available for booking on Wednesday with no estimated end date and no blackout dates.
“Las Vegas has long been known for its diverse collection of unforgettable experiences, and this new option combines many of them in a fresh, compelling way,” said Mike Neubecker, president and chief operating officer of MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur. “By combining hotel, dining, entertainment and parking into a single upfront price, we offer guests a convenient, turnkey way to explore our hotels and create new memories without the hassle or surprises.”
The new packages target a demographic that, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, has seen a decline in return visits.
An LVCVA visitor profile study delivered this month said lower-income visitors have been more focused on paying for necessities than spending discretionary money for leisure activities.
“People living on a budget are more concerned about their financial situation than they have been at almost any time in the last 80 years,” said LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill in his analysis of the latest Visitor Profile Study. “And that’s reflected in the decisions that they make, understandably. So they are, we’re a discretionary destination. And when these budget-conscious visitors have to make a decision, they’re understandably choosing to pay for what’s necessary in their lives rather than the things that are more discretionary.”
Luxor and Excalibur are considered the MGM properties most likely to benefit low-income visitors, with the upscale favoring Bellagio, Aria and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
What is included
Here’s what’s included in MGM’s new all-inclusive package:
— A two-night stay at the Luxor or Excalibur in a double room, including all resort fees.
— Three meals per day per guest, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner, redeemable at a selection of MGM Resorts restaurants in Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and New York-New York, featuring special menus with a wide variety of options and beverages. Dining options include Tap Sports Bar and The Buffet at Excalibur; Diablo’s Cantina, Pyramid Café, Public House and Backstage Deli in Luxor; Tom’s Watch Bar in New York-New York; Noodle Shop at Mandalay Bay; and MGM Grand Buffet and Tap Sports Bar at MGM Grand.
— Two tickets to one MGM Resorts show per stay, with six distinct options including popular headliners and signature productions. Show options include two tickets to Blue Man Group, Carrot Top or “Fantasy: The Strip’s Sexiest Tease” at the Luxor; and the Australian Bee Gees Show, Mac King Comedy Magic Show or “Thunder from Down Under” at Excalibur.
— Two rides on The Big Apple Coaster in New York-New York, one of The Strip’s signature exciting attractions.
— Self-parking for one vehicle at all MGM Resorts Las Vegas properties.
“We always listen to feedback from the consumer so this one we’ve been working on for three or four months just because it took some time just to make sure we could come up with a method to make it as frictionless as possible,” Neubecker said in an interview. “I think we’ve done that. We’ve tried to work out if someone wants to come and travel and know exactly what it’s going to cost them.”
“Robust Package”
Neubecker believes the package deal is the first of its kind on The Strip, though other resorts have offered similar promotions downtown.
“I’ve been here a long time and I can’t remember anything like this,” Neubecker said. “I would argue that this is probably one of the most robust packages out there. I can’t ever recall anything even close to this at this low price.”
