Busy The comedy about spies returns to the West End this summer, after a sold-out 21-week run last year.
The play will run at the Adelphi Theater for eight weeks from 1 August to 26 September 2026, with a cast in due course. The news was announced at the WhatsOnStage Awards last night, where the production took home the award for Best New Play. The series is also nominated for Best New Entertainment or Comedy at the Olivier Awards.
Audience members can register to access priority tickets here, which go on sale at 10.00 on March 13. There will be over 4,500 tickets available at reduced prices from £19.50, with savings of up to £45 per ticket. General sales begin at noon on March 16.
The comedy about spies is written by original Mischief members Henry Lewis and Henry Shields, with direction from Matt DiCarlo. Set design is by David Farley, with costume design by Deborah Andrews, Shelley Maxwell as motion director, lighting design by Johanna Town, and sound design and composition by Jon Fiber for Jollygoodtunes. Jonathan Sayer serves as executive producer.
The play follows competing spies from the CIA and KGB as they attempt to recover the plans for a top-secret British weapon from London’s Piccadilly Hotel. In true mischievous style, The comedy about spies is full of chaos. Throw in a clueless young couple, a hapless actor who wants to be the next James Bond, and enough double agents to confuse even the sharpest operator, and you have a mission that’s hilariously out of control.
Speaking about the show’s return, Henry Lewis said: “I’m absolutely delighted about it The comedy about spies returns to the West End this year. The Adelphi is such an incredible venue and we can’t wait to make audiences laugh there this summer.”
Producer Kenny Wax added: “We’re delighted to win Best New Play at the WhatsOnStage Awards and want to thank our fans and audiences who voted. If you’ve missed us, we’re coming back this summer for just 8 weeks and can’t wait to fill the amazing Adelphi Theater with laughter.”
2026 looks set to be another great year for the Mischief team. With The comedy about spies and their long duration The play that goes wrong playing simultaneously in the West End, the company will also launch its first ever musical, thespians, as a UK tour from May. Christmas Carol Goes Wrong will also return to wreak havoc this Christmas, with further details to be announced in due course.
